Description

Guests arrive at the only floating lobby in French Polynesia via private yacht from the quaint Bora Bora airport. Each room has an ocean view and all are suite-sized; some perched on a lush tropical hillside, others along a white sand beach and still others 'floating' above the crystal blue lagoon, complete with windows in the floor and a lanai with steps going directly to the water. The 122-room resort weaves native materials like curly kahia wood, tapas cloth and mother of pearl throughout, beautifully intertwining island d??cor with the latest in modern conveniences. The resort also features a hilltop, indoor-outdoor 'spa-with-a-jaw-dropping-view,' a 1,000-meter infinity pool that seemingly melts into the lagoon, a half-mile white sand beach with complimentary water toys; the Iriatai restaurant that pairs fine fusion cuisine with stunning horizon views and the Tamure Grill that offers casual, feet-in-the-sand dining. Exclusive features of the two, new Overwater Presidential Villas include an open air floor plan with modern island decor; deep, sleek bathtubs against full glass walls looking on the blue, blue lagoon, a plunge pool on the lower deck, a spiral staircase and a wellness/massage/sauna room upstairs along with a gazebo, hot tub and bar on the upstairs deck. Guests can also enjoy special excursions to the Nui's very own, private, 'deserted' island called Motu Tapu, which is the most photographed islet in the South Pacific.

greatest honeymoon
By ,
Bora Bora was like a dream. The over the water huts on the ocean were unbelievable. The food was expensive, but this was expected considering the location of the island. The excursions around the island are a must for anyone planning to go to the island. The island is not filled with the kind of excitement you would find in Las Vegas, but it's perfect for people looking for a quite, romantic getaway. I look forward to going again some day.

great time
By ,
we just got back last week and enjoyed our stay (8 days) be ready for high cost of food and drinks (can of coke $4.75 usd) also we had buffett for breakfast for the three of us was about $130 and dinner was about the same.. we did find you can take boat to town and shop at the market and bring food and drinks back and would save $$$ compaired to buying it at the resort... food was all good (nothing real great at the resort but good) few resturants on the island were very good (bloddy marys was good but more for the tourist. Note when you start booking excursions when you get there do the jeep / 4 wheel drive trip first so you can get the lay of the island and where things are located.. all the people are very friendly and we had a great time... room was clean and well mantained (hut over the water) we found tipping personel at resort is not expected (cept for meals) but we always gat a few dollars to the cart drivers when they picked us up and they always seamed to be there to pick us up very quickley when we called for a ride :)

Amost Paradise
By ,
Husband and I celebrated our 40th anniversary here. It was a dream 2nd honeymoon. Highly recommend this resort. The facility and grounds were spacious and beautifully maintained. The staff was friendly and most helpful. Equipment for water activities were provided free to guests, a very nice touch. Resort has an internet room with 3 computers and a printer, and usage is free. Our over the water bungalow suite was beautifully decorated, with a huge bathtub and shower. The dinner restaurant's food was very disappointing (in quality as well as quantity), so I would suggest going to local restaurants if at all possible (most offer free pickup). Great buffet breakfast selections and lunches are pretty good. We are already planning a return trip to celebrate our 45th anniversary.

Beautiful But!!!
By ,
Quiet, Secluded, Spacious, Isolated, Beautiful Lagoon, Great Hospitality from the Employees, Great Activities (Take the Safari around Bora Bora, and/or a Jet ski tour), go Kayaking and Snorkeling and take advantage of the cocktails made by friendly bartender(s), . However, we were disappointed when we found out that we were robbed in our over water bungalow, and that our post cards, entrusted to the front desk (already posted), did not arrive at its destinations. Be relaxed and enjoy the resort, but be careful to not leave I-pods, computers hard drives, and money out of the safe while you go out of your room (to diner), the turn down bed can be very costly. While the manager reimbursed the cost, it was very disappointing to leave this beautiful resort with a bad taste of being violated. Additionally, the food is not good. However, while conveying our disappointment about the food to the Manager, he has assured us that he is changing his chef in December 08. We did not take advantage of the Spa facilities, i imagine that it can be an experience being on the top of the mountain looking out the lagoon while receiving a treatment. Overall, if you like to relax, this is the place to be. Just be aware that even though you are in a secluded island resort, there are still people who will go through your things and select the most hot commodities that they can sell on the market for a buck.

smaller islands are better
By ,
Beautiful garden and grounds and many luxuries. Bungalos were huge and modern. can get very crouded being a large resort. Snorkling from over water bungalos was poor. No fish, nayural lagoon under bungalos had beed distroyed during constuction. Great place if you are only interested in paying for the spa options or want to get married in the small chapel on the hill. found the little Island of manihi much more rewarding and less expensive.

wowa wooowa

hmm, if i can say there was one thing that i liked about it; it would probably be how extremely quiet and secluded it was. the food was absolutely spectacular, and the service was uncompareable. Since this life changeing experience, i have not been to a better location, or a more relaxing area in my life! I will return to this place some day-as soon as my budget allows it!

Service with a Tahitian Smile
By ,
We had the most incredible holiday at Bora Bora Nui Resort and Spa. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, the fresh fruit on arrival and sweets delivered to the room where just part of what make this place so special. The resort is centrally located from town with regular shuttle boats back and forth. The turquoise water and abundant marine life just proves you are in paradise. We took the Full day Lagoonarium Trip which to say the least was priceless. It an underwater aquarium and lets you see all the fish while staying dry. You can ofcoarse snorkel with the Marine life as well. Also we had a Jeep Safari which takes you to top of the moutains around Bora. We had to toss up between the Helicopter ride or Jeep Safari and we were impress with our choice. We are looking forward to the day we can do it all again. In the meantime hope you have fun too.

Unforgettable experience
By ,
My wife and I stayed at Nui on our honeymoon September 2007 and it was an incredible experience to say the least. It's the perfect mix of not too crowded but just enough people. The resort itself is unmatched, definitely get an over water bungalow! We disagree with the bad critique of the food. We had a breakfast package at the hotel and were very impressed. The authentic French restaurant was excellent as well and there are several places on Bora Bora that are very good. The staff was incredibly accomodating and we came to know several of them very well over our week vacation and made some great friends from CA and NY. Be sure to travel to the market but remember, the town is shut down on Sundays. Recommend once you get there to get settled in and then go book your dinners and events your first day so you don't lose out (plenty of time on the flight from LAX to figure out what you want to do) - the Lagoon Safari is amazing.

Five Star: Beauty, Service, Food, Internet
By ,
First we need to mention that we travel frequently to high-end quality resorts. Moreover this was not a honeymoon, weve been married 36 years and gone to many places, so this is a fair and balanced assessment. We stayed at this resort for 4 nights in May 2007, so lets set the record straight this resort DOES have fantastic five star food, and CABLED internet in the rooms. It has a gorgeous white beach, large and spacious bungalows, and a picturesque setting, but its service also is absolutely fabulous and it is a model for every other resort in the world seriously! Arriving at the hotel, we were met by Rui Reis the General Manager, and Gilles Roy the Room Division Manager. Imagine the GM meeting you as you arrive at a resort. Rui is a wonderful person, the type of person you would want as your friend. His emphasis is on ensuring guests receive the best possible service and enjoyment during their stay. Gilles personally guided us to our room to ensure that we were satisfied in every respect. And then there was Sebastian Marteau the Food Manager who has lots of hotel talent, and it was a joy to talk with him. He and the Chef Stephane Le Grand put together a memorable dinner in our room and made it very special. Remember we are not celebrities, they just made us feel like one! Now for any single men interested in meeting a beautiful young French lady (not that any singles go there), there is Severine Overre the Room Service Manager. She brought dinner to our room and was nice enough to stay and chat with us. In our book, shes a gem. You single guys out there be sure to meet this very special lady one who is quite different from worldly women, but you'll have to travel to Bora Bora if you want this pretty one. Her beauty shined out in her soft spoken words. Of course, there was all the pleasant and smiling waitresses and waiters. Among them Stephene Ami stands out. After our first breakfast, he remembered our names and how we even liked our eggs. He was so pleasant all the time, it was fun to see him. Actually, all the employees of this resort were all so wonderful and kind. Every time we passed them saying ia ora na (meaning hello), they made us feel like home. And when it came to say goodbye, Francisa Antunas the Hotel Manager, found us at the dock to say farewell (as she did to all guests). And we felt as if we were leaving not just a beautiful island, but some friends as well. And who were we? We were simply two guests that came to visit Bora Bora. Yes, we tested them at times, yet they always passed with FIVE stars! Clearly, when it comes to making you happy this resort takes on this task as a challenge and opportunity to impress you. This is as close to paradise as it gets on this earth! Starwood should be extremely proud of their people there we want you travelers and them to know just how much we appreciated their kindness. So now that we are home, we are planning on returning next year with more of our family! Thanks to the people at the NUI! Alan and Susan

OK but with problems
By ,
We were on an overwater bungalow over the Xmas holiday season; the good news is the location is very scenic, quiet and has good snorkeling beaches within easy kayak or swimming range. The bad is that with the exception of the breakfast buffet, which had quite good cuisine and quantities, the meals were quite underwhelming. They have two kinds of dining; a-la-carte and fixed menu. Unfortunately the a-la-carte was the same four dishes and the fixed menu also the same three; over a week stay, this gets really old really fast (hmmm.. what to have... fish, or fish!). The first day we were there they had a buffet for dinner which was much better; everyone got a favorite dish, you got to sample things, etc. More annoying, the hotel has gotten nickel and diming the guests down to a fine art. Not only do you pay $30-$50 per person for the a-la-carte meals but even the table water is extra and expensive, as is the bread if you get more that your rationed two pieces. Should you decide to "beat the system" and purchase water in the local town to be stored in your mini-bar refrigerator, be advised that the items in the mini-bar are sensor controlled: touch it, you've bought it. I guess too many guests were removing the mini-bar things and using the refrigerator for "illegal" foods. Note that these are for a bungalow which is $1700 a night. Again, very annoying. I was genuinely surprised they had not found a way to charge for the ice in the ice machine. Ending on a positive note, the staff was always courteous and responsive. When the internet went down they were good about keeping us informed (although why a multi-million dollar hotel uses an ISP who is crippled by a faulty router is a mystery to me: does no one know of keeping backup equipment around???), when housekeeping didn't keep the room cleaned on a timely matter they addressed it promptly and when the restaurant accidentally put a $80 drink onto our bill they rapidly corrected it. Again, good people at the resort!
