Broken appliances, tattered linens, dirty bathtub
By deccan, 1/27/12
Marriott (Fairfield / Residence Inn) used to be a symbol for clean & comfortable accomodations for a budget traveler and courteous service. This time around my experience was totally out of the ordinary and had to leave with an entirely bitter impression about Marriott. They have definitely fallen in terms of service & value for money. We booked our entire vacation package using Travelocity. When I called a couple days before traveling to confirm my Travelocity reservation and to specify a room, I encountered a rather terse agent who told me that everythings was OK. When I called back, ( afew hours later) to enquire about the possibility for an extra bed room, I was shocked when they said they cannot find my reservation. It took about 4 hours and two days of calling to sort out the problem. I eventually called Travelocity and had the agent sort out the issue. I called the hotel again to ensure that everything was in order and enquired how my reservation was canceled. The front desk gal told me that the property manager noted that my wife called to cancel our completely prepaid travelocity reservation. I insisted that they trace a record of the call and prove that we called to cancel. I suggested that we were staying for 8 nights and made all the flight/hotel/attractions reservations thru travelocity and it is absurd that we could cancel just the hotel at such a short notice. Cindy Diggs the property manager was unapologetic and did not make any attempt to remedy the inconvenience due to time spent and loss of peace of mind. When we arrived at the hotel @ 8PM, the room given us was old, the fridge/microwave/dishwasher were cheap and old. The dish washer made such a racket that we decided never to turn the dishwasher at night time. The spare blanket appeared to be used, there were folds and hairs in it. The bathtub had hairs in it and it was dimly lit. It was too late to change but the last straw was the room heat in the bedroom was broken. I called the front desk @ 4am and showed the boy how the bedroom was cold while the sitting room was warm. My wife and kid decided to sleep on the couch and the floor, while my senior parent were sleeping in the bedroom which was cold. I was afraid they may catch a cold and our vacation might get ruined. The next day we had our room changed. This was no different from our earlier room, but atleast the bathtub was clean and the linens were fresh. They provided a room credit for half days room tarriff for the inconvenience. The next few days we adjusted to the room, tired of complaining and just got done with our trip. The heater in the new room was also broken but it did not get as cold as earlier and we managed by opening the bedroom door and bundling up during the cooler nights. The early AM buffet was always busy and it was tough to find a table and there were 2 toasters for about 150-200 guests. If we bring the food upstairs to our room and leave it standing for a evening snack, we would see tiny bugs/flies emerge from the danishes. Its hard to see how these bugs can enter the room which appeared to be well sealed and clean. All in all, the least this hotel could do was to apologize for the inconvenience caused when they canceled my reservation without cause and instead of lying, remedy the situation. Shop around for a better deal .

Shop around
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/18/12
The best part about this hotel is the breakfast bar and the courteous employees. Other than that, the stay was horrible. The building is pretty old. The water in the sink and bathroom has a sulfuric smell to it. As soon you turn on any faucet in the suite, it starts smelling horrible. The bathroom was pretty congested and outdated. They have popcorn ceiling .... that screams aged! Out of the six nights I stayed there, the housekeeping staff did a so so job on the towels. Every other day we would have to call and ask for towels. I would shop around before making a reservation here. It is not a cheap place for what you get. I was carried away by the "Marriott" in the name, but I was so wrong. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone willing to spend $100+ per night.

Would Come Back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/6/11
We come to Orlando about three times a year. This was our first stay at this hotel. We would use them again. The hotel was clean and comfortable and affordable. It was great having a refrigerator and stove. The staff was helpful. Good variety at the free breakfast buffet. Pool is nice. We asked for a larger pot and frying pan than what was in our kitchen. They quickly brought them to our room. **Avoid doing the Marriott Vacation Club presentation. They say it will only be a 90-minute presentation, and you'll get a $100 Marriott gift card. They do give you the gift card, but it was a 4-hour presentation. It really cut into our time at the parks. They try to push you to buy a Vacation Club membership. We really disliked! **

would not go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/13/11
The lack of information at time of reservations. When we got there, there were many extra charges. The front desk people are not educated enough to even inform us of the right information .They were lies. The rooms were great, but not enough utencils and pots ect. Also we were told that there was a oven in our room and there was not.We had alot of wasted food we bought and could not use.Staff was not very friendly, felt very uncomfortable there.Have been to alot cheaper hotelsand was alot happier. They say on there web page resturant on site not really,a gril snack bar.Pool area was real nice.

Wonderful!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/3/09
We had a very nice stay at this hotel while visiting our son. Will and his co-workers took very good care of us & gave us excellant service. We had a two bedroom suite with two bathrooms near the pool which was perfect for us. It had a stove, microwave, frig, and dishwasher plus dishes. We enjoyed the free breakfast and sitting outside drinking our coffee near the beautiful landscaped pool area. The room was clean & the beds were very comfortable. Our visit with our son was wonderful & so was staying at this hotel. We would highly recommend staying at this hotel. This hotel is located close to the airport too which was very time saving.

Stayed here in July 2009
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/10/09
This hotel was fantastic. The room was spacious and clean. The pool was perfect for children of varying ages as it started at zero depth for the little ones and got deeper for the older ones. The staff, from maintenance to desk staff, were friendly and very helpful. It is walking distance to Sea World, but we took the shuttle as the stop is right across from the hotel. Getting the shuttle back at night from Sea World was simple, even with three tired children. It was also easy to jump on the highway and drive to Disney World right down the highway. The view from the window was not great; but, we didn't need a great view as we were too busy enjoying the pool versus sitting in the room. I loved this hotel, and I'm sad that this year we're venturing to VA beach instead of FL so I won't get to go back. But, I certainly will stay there next time I go to Sea World.

Beautriful hotel-don't take your pets though!
By Michael T, 12/5/08
This hotel is well located to almost everything in Orlando and is right off Interstate 4. The place is clean inside and out. The pool and courtyard with BBQ's was awesome. The rate was really good for the suite that we had. I would definitely reccomend this to anyone, unless you want to stay with your pets. They put us on the 5th floor with our two dogs which is a major inconvienence when they have to go out. Then the amount of fleas my dogs now have is unreal. I gave them a flea bath upon our return home because they had been scratching for two days at the hotel, we stayed three. Now I have them scheduled for a professional flea dip because the fleas have not completely gone away. They had no fleas before and they never scratched. My wife even got bitten on her legs and feet. This experience will keep us away but it is really a shame because we really liked this hotel and its ameneties.

Well worth the Money!!!
By Patrick, 10/7/08
It was our first time in Florida and we enjoyed staying at the hotel suite. There were 4 adults and 1 child. The idea of having a kitchen that you could use and living room with 2 bed and bath was brilliant. The pool and hot tub area was awesome and being open till 11pm was great when you came back from a long day of being on the go. The rooms were exceptional, it was one of the best nights of sleep with the comfortable mattress. The lobby and housekeeping services were great. The hot breakfast buffet was excellent, the idea of having it in the hotel was very convienent. It made it easier to start your day and go about your business. I would like to say thanks for a great experience and when I return to Florida, this is the place myself and family will be definately be staying again and again.

Amazing!
By Madeline C, 9/19/08
We were on vacation and hoped to go to the greatest parks, and if you like sea animals and SeaWorld, this is the place to be! Great service, cleanliness, location was amazing. You could literally see the main SeaWorld sign from the parking lot. The pool is also animal-based. There is little fish statues that my sister loved. The spit out water. It was very cool. We also were upgraded to a large suite, with two bedrooms, both with tvs, and one with two beds, the other with one. GREAT BREAKFAST!!! I hope you'll choose this place!

Will go back again!
By Rae, 8/18/08
I booked this hotel for my family of seven after searching for a resonable hotel near Sea World. I called the hotel before booking and asked how far it was from Sea World. I was told it was within walking distance, but it wasn't. Unless you consider two miles walking distance. Upon check-in we were told our room was not available. We arrived right at 4 p.m. We had to wait almost 45 minutes along with several other angry guests in the lobby. However, upon our entrance into the room our dissapointments became null and void. We stayed in a two bedroom suite which was quite affordable for the size of the room. Full kitchen and two bathrroms gave us plenty of room to relax. The pool was great for our kids, had a great beach entrance which our one year old enjoyed. Pool side bar and grill had great food, quite a bit on the expensive side, but you are paying for the convenience. Breakfast buffet was nice. Plenty of food for all breakfast types. Beds were comfortable and plush. Overall the hotel was nice and well worth the money. We asked for a late check out which was granted at no extra charge! Nice place!
