10 reviews for Riverwalk Vista, San Antonio
You will never find a better place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/24/08
I loved everything about this place. From the most comfortable bed ever to the best shower in years! What a great find. My wife and I "honeymooned" here and we couldn't have been happier. The staff was uber accomodating. The location even better! I have read a couple of reviews on here that says that there is a lot of noise. I must be deaf because I didn't here any, except when the San Antonio Spurs killed Utah Jazz one night! I won't be staying anywhere else when I visit San Antonio!

Best hotel in San Antonio!
By Charlsie, 03/23/08
My husband and I spent almost a week at the Riverwalk Vista on our honeymoon almost one year ago. I've visited San Antonio many times and this is by far the best hotel in town. The building is very antique and beautiful. The rooms are extremely comfortable and accommodating. The sheets, comforter, towels, and shower are all very upscale, expensive items (ie: Slate showers, egyptian cotton linens, etc). They add cute touches like a teddy bear on the bed, Chinese fighting fish, and a comment book that shares stories from past visitors. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on! Every evening the vista has free wine and they have the best cookies all day long. Oh, my husband says that the breakfast was delicious, although I always slept through it! When we were trying to get a cab to go to a Spurs playoff game, they called and schedule the cab and recommended restaurants to go eat at. There were several hotel managers there during our stay, but they were ALL extremely nice and would always chat with us when we walked by their office. The hotel is right off the Riverwalk and only takes a couple of (walking) minutes to get to all of the restaurants or the Alamo. They have a business center with free Internet, for those of you as tech-obsessed as we are. The bottom line is that Riverwalk Vista is THE best hotel in San Antonio. My husband and I are so thankful that we lucked out with this place on our honeymoon. We are seriously considering coming back for our 1 year anniversary and know we'll stay there any other time we're in San Antonio. We recommend you do the same.

Do Not Stay At This Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/04/07
I stayed at this place for oue 30th anniversary. The parking a block away. The noise is unbearable. We were up all night. The white noise machines are not helpfull. We payed $280.00 per night. We planned to stay for two nights. We left and lost our money. We had crickets in the room. For $280.00 I felt the crikets should not be in the room. The mamager said the river was the problem. This place is way over priced. We went acroos the sreet to the Hilton at $160.00 per night. We could not stay at this place for two nights. The noise is really bad.

Nice, Cozy, but yes traffic noise
By Suzi, 04/02/07
For an overnight get away, we enjoyed the coziness of room, the view out the windows were amazing and the bathroom was really nice. The tall ceilings made you feel at home. The only thing that was not so great was the traffice noise. People outside were having a good time. So, you either enjoy the hours with noise or you will drive yourself nuts listening to it and trying to sleep. I will return, but next time I know to request a room no where near the main road.

DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/15/07
I was in the process of making plans for our trip. I made reservations at several locations to find the best. When I canceled my reservation with Riverwalk Vista ** 3 1/2 weeks ** before our trip, they charged me a $15.00 cancellation fee per room!!! WOW!

Great Riverwalk alternative
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/05/06
This small, historical hotel is a great alternative for those going to a meeting at the very nearby Convention Center. Although my room was not huge, it was extremely comfortable, with wide plank wooden floors, antique furniture, wonderful bed linens, a 'therafish,' a white noise machine, an amazing shower, lovely (if somewhat limited) breakfast, etc. As a light sleeper, I was very worried that the noise would be a problem for me. I requested a room that was relatively quiet, and they were obliging. I had NO PROBLEM sleeping, except for a night in which severe thunderstorms woke up everyone in the area. They also supply free in-room high-speed internet connections. Although they had run out of cables, I indicated that I really needed to connect and, the next day, a cable appeared in my room. One of the possible disadvantages of small hotel is that some of the amenities of the larger hotels, such as a fitness center, are not available. However, the Riverwalk Vista does allow you to use the well-equipped fitness center of a nearby, affiliated property. It's a quick 10-minute walk away. Overall, highly recommended.

Best place on the River Walk
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/02/06
The hotel location and decor couldn't have been more perfect! Staff was wonderful, service was perfect, room was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was magnificent. Even free internet service was available. Their website is exceptionally accurate. Within walking distance from the convention center, overlooks the River Walk, all types of food and shopping near by. My friends who stayed in the near by big hotels (Marriott, Hilton) were extremely jealous of my historic room, the cookies, and the location. Heck - they even paid more for their room than I did!! Unique room amenities included two bathrobes, lots of towels, a refrigerator, lighted magnifying mirror, umbrella, ceiling fan, heated fan in bathroom, fish bowl with fish, luxury pack of shampoo/soap, and extra blankets. It was great to have breakfast available: bagels, English muffins, fruit, yogurt, milk, juices, eggs, breakfast burritos, breakfast breads, cereal, etc. And another plus -- fresh baked cookies every afternoon! Great for couples and business travelers. Families might not like it because there isn't a pool or anything for the kids to do, but grown ups would love it! The door man (Benjamin) couldn't have been more charming and helpful. I was travelling alone on business and he made me feel safe and at home. A+++!!!

Noisy!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/05
The place is very nice and service is great. The only bad thing about this place was the noise. We stayed on a weekend and the traffic was bad up until 3:00am. It is very noisy and their white noise machines don't cover up the noise well. It's a very wonderful place but if you are a light sleeper, I wouldn't recommend you stay here.

Excessive noise - had to leave
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/31/05
We had to leave their “best” room at 1:30am due to extreme street noise. The rumble was so loud, we could not hear each other talking in the SAME BED. In response, they said, “You were welcome to have used our complimentary ear plugs.” What does that tell you? Besides, the street rumble was so low and loud, it rattled the bed. “We do not hide from the fact that it’s loud here” Great…maybe if they were to post “EXCESSIVE STREET NOISE WILL RATTLE YOUR TEETH ALL NIGHT LONG” on their website…that would have helped. Of course, no refund.
