Holiday Inn Express East, Louisville

We drove 5 hours to visit family. We checked in confirming a discounted rate we were getting from AAA. The kids washed their hands in a sink that ended up leaking everywhere. When they came to fix it, we realized none of our lamps had any bulbs. While we were checking the lamps, we didn't see that one of the kids stuck his finger in the lamp socket and was shocked. The manager said theyd bring in more bulbs. We asked if some of the relatives kids could swim in the pool and they said ok. After an hour of swimming the front desk guy told us they were closing early to paint the floor. We checked later and saw that people were still swimming. They kicked everyone else out so a bridal party could swim. When we confronted them, they blatantly lied to our faces. When we were going to bed, the pull out couch bed was stuck. They had to bring up an uncomfortable cot. The breakfast the next morning was awful, almost inedible. When we got home we checked our bank account to see that they overcharged us. We called corporate, explained what happened, and they said they would send us a $50 gift card to keep us as customers. They also said the manager of the hotel should give us the night free. We called the manager and he refused to reimburse us for the overcharge or anything else. We reminded him that one of the kids was electrocuted on his property, he said it "wasn't a big deal". All we wanted back was the overcharge. We called corporate again and they looked the charge up and told us they charged us for the lightbulbs. Lightbulbs! They also said the hotel had 48 hours to refund us everything or they would do it. We waited, and no money came back. We called corporate again and they denied the conversation ever taking place. We told them the conversation had been recorded by them and they could look into it, which they said they had no access to it. All in all the whole experience was horrible. You'd think corporate would help, but they lied just like the manager did. I urge everyone to stay away from this particular hotel. They will take you for all you've got. If I had known we were being charged for the bulbs, I would have taken every last one home with me. We paid for them.

I woke up at 4:00am with bed bugs crawling on me! There were two beds in the room so I switched beds (It looked okay.) I saved 3 of the bugs to show to the person at the desk the next morning. She said she could not do anything about it but she would tell the manager when he came in. He called me later in the day. He said he inspected the room and "found no evidence of bugs and didn't know where they came from." Because I have stayed there in the past, he offered me a 50% discount. Now I am trying to figure out how not to transport these bugs into my home. I'm getting rid of my clothes and my suitcase, and am overwhelmed by what may be in store for my family if this does not work. I wish I had checked these reviews before I stayed here.

I got up and turned on the light during the night and was horified to see bed bugs. I complained to management but was told that they could not find any sign of bugs. I checked out at 3:00 a.m. and was told that I would not be refunded since I stayed the night. Management showed no concern and offered no apology.
