Perfect weekend getaway
By ,
I don’t usually write reviews for my trips, but given the absolutely wonderful stay my wife and I had at the Hyatt Regency Huntington beach, I wanted to be sure to share my experience. My wife, 6-month-old son, and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency for an overnight trip for Mother’s Day this past weekend. Before our trip, I spoke with Stefanie Kaplan, the Senior Sales Manager, who made room recommendations for traveling with an infant, helped us arrange babysitting for an evening out, made dinner and brunch reservations for us, and helped to put my mind at ease about traveling with our son. She was prompt to reply, responsive, friendly, and extremely helpful. Once we arrived, we quickly realized that Ms. Kaplan’s friendly and helpful demeanor was not unique at the Hyatt. The staff met us upon arrival, unpacked our car, and stored our bags until our room was ready. At the front desk, we were greeted by Emily, who confirmed our reservations and provided us with an overview of the resort. Our check-in was delayed by about 10 minutes while housekeeping finished cleaning the room, so Emily generously and unexpectedly offered us a discount for our inconvenience. Given that we were traveling with an infant, my wife and I chose to stay in a Sunset Suite to have some extra space. The room was exquisite—pictures on the website do not do it justice. Everything was meticulously arranged, the bathrooms were spacious and spotless, and sliding glass doors in both the living room and bedroom provided picturesque views of the beach, as well as access to private patios off of each room. If this wasn’t enough, we had champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries waiting for us in the room as a Mother’s day surprise for my wife! We had dinner that night at the Californian, a AAA Four Diamond restaurant located on the resort. Our meals were delicious and perfectly prepared. More importantly, though, the service was, again, outstanding. Our server, Danielle, was professional, outgoing and courteous, prompt to take our orders, and checked in on us frequently but without hovering. She made excellent recommendations regarding our meals and wine pairings. We live about an hour away, but would come back again just for dinner! The next day, we returned to the Californian for their special Mother’s Day brunch. It was a beautiful day, and we were offered a nice seat on the patio by the fountains with a view of the ocean. The buffet was incredible with many delicious options. Danielle was again or server, and although she and the other servers were incredibly busy, they made us feel like we were the most important guests there. Our coffee and champagne glasses were never allowed to go dry, and the staff were all quick to recommend their favorites from the buffet. Throughout our stay, we spent time in both the adult and children’s pool areas. Our son loved splashing in the kiddie pool, and my wife and I enjoyed sitting in lounge chairs poolside and jumping in to cool off when we got hot. Despite it being a busy weekend (there was at least one wedding there during our stay), we never had difficulty finding a few loungers by the pool in which to relax. There were bars by both pools as well, and the servers at both pools were again very prompt and responsive with drink and food orders. On Sunday afternoon, my wife had a massage at the Pacific Waters Spa. She said that it was one of the best massages that she’s ever had. This was overall one of the best trips that my wife and I have ever taken. She had a wonderful first Mother’s day, and I thank the incredible staff at the Hyatt Regency for helping me to make this happen. It was an expensive weekend, and we don’t splurge often. However, it was worth every penny, and we’d do it again in a heartbeat. We were pampered the entire weekend, and treated like the most important people at the resort. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay for longer, but we will definitely be coming back!

CUSTOMER SERVICE ABSENT!
By ,
Was very excited to come back and visit the Hyatt again! Only problem was that the weekend we were to arrive, go figure the only 50 degree weather and rain! So call in on Tuesday to check on availability and pricing (see if it made sense to change) for 1 week later. No problem with either so I would call back the next day after making sure I could change the airline tickets. Called back again first thing Wednesday morning after changing flights and talked with Amy, all was still good but Sunday, they could not honor the same price and she could not override. Put me on hold to check with Hotel reservation supervisor Sarah. Sarah was in a meeting, but she left her a message to call me back on my cell. Amy had locked the days down for me and I would need to review Sunday pricing with Sarah. Two hours passed and no call from Sarah. So I called back again talking to Corine ( I believe spelling is correct), BIG PROBLEM now, dates are still open but the rate is now double what I was paying just 1 week earlier. Not to acceptable at this point so was transferred to floor supervisor. She contacted the Hyatt reservation desk and they would not honor anything at this point. She was very nice and apologetic but could not assist. She did transfer me to the Hyatt's Hotel Manager Prescott in which I had to leave a message on his phone. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever seen from a Hyatt, still no return phone calls from anyone. So beware, even if you document people, pricing and dates the Hyatt at Huntington Beach could care less, The amazing thing is, how does the pricing double, the customer service get worse and people still put up with it! Not this one a whole heck of alot nice/r motels just down the road! C-YA HYATT! Lost a long time customer!

dream vacation
By ,
I felt compelled to write a review after reading all the other unhappy people. We have vacationed here several times over the past few years and it still rates as one of our favorite places. My boys were even sad one year because we went to Disneyland INSTEAD of huntington beach. The hotel is amazing, the pools are fabulous and our service has always been fantastic. We arrived once and they had overbooked and put us in a suite!! We are planning our springbreak vacation for this year and can't wait to get back!!!!!!

Best place i've stayed!
By ,
I loved how clean it was! The people were all so friendly and helpful too. The downside was that we had to call each morning for cleaning service, but that was about it. The location was perfect, in the middle of every attraction you would want to see! It is an hour away from Hollywood, 20 min from Disney Land and about an hour and a half from San Diego Zoo. The Hotel was very private and extremely comfortable. I strongly suggest staying here.

The Gov's Suite was beautiful, Luxurious towels, fruit and 2 and 1/2 baths. Beautiful view of the ocean - You won't want to leave. Perfect place for a romantic weekend if you're lucky enough!!

Gorgeous Hotel
The service was great. My girlfriend and I stayed in one of the rooms with 2 Queen beds. The price was definitely worth the luxury. We enjoyed some wine at the Lounge at the hotel. We also had a fabulous time going to the beach. We even got a new piercing at Tommy T's Body Piercing after we saw another girl at the hotel who referred us. I can't say enough good things about the hotel employees. They were very helpful and considerate. We will definitely go back and stay again. Thanks so much!

Pretty Disappointed
By ,
Room: It was nice, clean and with a partial view of the ocean (when on the balcony), however, no movie channels or DVD/Video options were surprising given the cost per night: $250. Also, there was a keyboard but no easy access to a computer in the room and the ice box was not very cold. Amenities: Great pool but the jacuzzi next to the pool was cold in the morning; we were directed to another set of jacuzzi's that were warmer but still not as warm as we would have liked. Service at the pool was lacking too; I ordered a drink and it took approx 20 minutes to arrive. Restaurants: Although we went for an early meal at the Californian--we were the first-- my son was served his dinner and finished by the time my entree showed up (appros 35 minutes from ordering). Service in General: This is what struck me the most: I was told on the phone, Valet was the only parking option. Upon arrival, the young man hastened me to get my items together, directed me to leave the windows down (I guess his perferance) and was generally inhospitable. I also was not given nor saw any info re: $25 for overnight valet. The next morning, I learned there was another $10 overnight option for parking. The Consiearge service (sp?) was also poor; when I asked for some directions related to Catalina Island, the man made it sound like I did not know what I was talking about and when he did locate the info, commented that my reference to San Diego had been the problem. Overall, this hotel was definitely average with a way to high cost.

Hyatt-Huntington Beach
By ,
The Hotel was nice, but we enjoyed the Restaurants even more. The Californian (Restaurant) located in the Hotel Is one of Best Restaurants I have been too. The only down side to this Hotel, I felt was..... There was not an option to Self Park. Which meant, over night parking, and it was $21 per night. Not even the Wynn in Vegas charges you that. And the $9 per day fee for using or not using there Pool, Spa, Tennis courts, Gym. I can understand the fee if I used it. But just putting it on the bill just because was a little disturbing.

One of the Best Experiances We've Had
By ,
Great View, Great Service, and Impressive Cleanliness are just a few of many things we were treated to. The staff were very understanding and helpful with accomodating my wife (just after surgery) and I. We enjoyed a great view of the beach and the courtyard/pool area. I would recommend this 5 star hotel to anyone.
