We will not be going back there again.
By Milty, 5/28/09
The room they gave us (party of 3) was insanely small, bathroom had only six sq feet of elbow room (only six 12x12 inch tiles were unobstructed) and had no bathtub. Called the front desk to ask for another room as I needed a bathtub to give my 4yr old a bath. Was told that the hotel was booked and that I should have asked for a bathtub when making a reservation. Since when does one have to specify a bathtub when making reservations? Even their own online booking system does not provide that option. In addition: - The shower didn't work right and it took 3 visits by their engineers to fix it. - The internet didn't work and they had to send someone up after a lengthly tech call. - The closet door opened inward blocking the hangers, etc so it can only be used if you step in and close the door behind you. We checked in early (~1pm) and according to the staff, was given the only room available at the time. However, we were not given the option to wait for another room to be cleaned and become open. We later found out that the room we reserved for a friend at the same rate for the same night (she checked in ~3pm) had a bathtub. They upgraded us to a better room the next night but for one night, the room was awful, my wife fell asleep on the chair while waiting for them to fix the shower and my daughter didn't get her bath. We won't be guests there again.

Landmark of indifference
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/28/08
The staff was indifferent at best and I believe they think they are working in the Chase of old. A reworked relic at the wrong end of town. Pretty but way over priced for the value offered. Not your grandmother's Chase Park Plaza.

A Great Father's Day
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/28/06
My children wanted to suprise me on Father's Day with a trip to St. Louis and tickets to The Phantom of the Opera at the Fox Theatre. We took a suite at the Chase and had a terrific time. We ate dinner in the Bistro and enjoyed a relaxing evening listening to the Jazz pianist in the lounge, poolside, while the children went to a movie. Had an elegant buffet breakfast, swam in the pool and toured the property before going to the theatre for a matinee performance. The staff graciously extended our check-out time. Every member of the staff from the moment we arrived until we left could not have been more kind and courteous. We shall return. Note: The Fox Theatre is "Fabulous"

Just passing through
By CaitlinL, 6/20/06
We were passing through St. Louis twice in one week, and decided on the Chase, not knowing anything about the hotel or neighborhood. After our first night, we booked our second on the spot! Very nice, large rooms, full kitchens, friendly staff, beautiful neighborhood and close to nice restaurants/coffee shops and grocery store. Cocktails around the pool were wonderful, Sunday brunch a special treat, and good service in the cafe. Stay here, enjoy, and come back again.

Unique hotel, excellent location
By Lucky13, 5/30/06
I was quite impressed with the Chase Park Plaza. The hotel recently completed a $100M renovation, and the results are exemplary. The room was appointed with all sorts of luxuries - including high-end toiletries and orchids - and the suite itself was spacious with killer views of Forest Park and the fountain and pool on the property. The suite came with a full kitcheonette, including a stove and full-size refrigerator, coffee pot, dishes and pans, etc. The location can't be beat - just steps from the Central West End and the new Maryland Plaza shopping district, complete with a gorgeous, glowing fountain. It was a 5-minute walk to Zoe for dinner, and Coffee Cartel is just down the street should anyone be seeking a great coffee, sandwich or dessert at any time (it's a safe neighborhood and the Cartel is open 24 hours.) The staff at the Chase Park Plaza was incredibly helpful and courteous and made sure every last detail was attended to. Room service was quick and efficient, with prices more reasonable than one would expect at a luxury property. I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan to stay here again the next time we're in St. Louis.

Biggest Disappointment of the Year
By Melanie, 6/4/05
I've stayed at a lot of hotels in St. Louis over the years before I moved here, and I have to say the Chase Park Plaza was quite possibly the biggest disappointment of all. First of all they advertise a business center with internet access and for the price you pay to stay there internet should be free but it's 85 cents a minute. Even the Hampton Inn gives you free access to their internet, and the Chase can't buck up? Also the room was non-smoking but wreaked of smoke. Not good at all...I worked in the hotel business...if the person before us smoked in our non-smoking room clear it out before you put someone there. Then there was the maze to getting around the hotel and all the stairs. My mother had a hard time walking around it and could not carry her rolling suitcase to the room because of all the stairs. The hotel was impossible to maneuver about. In short, save your money, stay at the Ritz or the Westin, or the Adams Mark, or pretty much anywhere else in St. Louis if you're looking for comfort.

Everything but the room was great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/21/05
This is an historic hotel, which sometimes creates an uneven experience like mine. I got stuck in the unrenovated section--the room was small and the walls paper-thin. I was awakened at 2 a.m. by some giggling girls next door and subjected to their gossip--every word came through our adjoining door as clearly as if they were in my own room! Friends have told me that other rooms are fabulous, apartment-size with kitchens. Mine was a closet by comparison. However, the location is great--near the many small bistros of the Central West End, near the Washington U. Med School and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and across the street from the trees and fields of Forest Park. The staff was friendly and efficient, the shops and services were those expected in a grand hotel (the 6-screen cinema was a surprise!), and the downstairs public rooms were elegant and well-maintained. That said, I'll probably stay somewhere else next time I go to St. Louis. If I stay at the Chase again, I'll ask for an upgraded room.
