One of the best

My husband works for a Best Western in Illinois, so we always stay at Best Western Hotel's when traveling. We stayed at the Clive Best Western this past weekend, and it was definately one of the best we've stayed at. The front desk staff (Steven and Kathy) were the true defination of excellent guest services. The hotel was nice, clean, and quiet. The breakfast was delicious. Interstate noise wasn't an issue, even though it is right next to the interstate. The rooms were nice and clean, and the wi-fi worked well. I would definately recommend this hotel to others traveling in the Des Moines area.

Military Friendly

I stay at this hotel every time I travel to Des Moines on business. The staff has always been very friendly and the hotel is extremely clean. Most importantly this hotel has been extremely appreciative of our military service and has gone above and beyond to show us their appreciation. I would suggest that if you are in the military that you stay at this hotel and no other when in Des Moines. Show them your military ID because they do offer a generous military discount.

Just another Inn

Nothing really stood out to me about this hotel. Everything seemed average and blah. The pool was small, breakfast wasn't anything spectacular, and the service was okay. Will probably look for a different place to stay next time we are in the area.

Service Great, Most Other Aspects Good

Most aspects of our non-reservation Memorial Day weekend 2006 were acceptable to excellent. Despite being near the I35 freeway, traffic noise wasn't noticed. Loved the staff friendliness and their going out of their way to retrieve a child's "can't-live-without" blanket after we had checked out and were an hour away. Credit for having a helpful sign indicating towels were available at the pool. Pool areas clean and reasonably maintained. Hot tub was actually hot. A good, but not standout, value for the rate. Standard continental breakfast items served. Dislikes: bathroom light switch was outside the bathroom and required a few steps to reach; the treadmill was the only nicely working piece of equipment in the exercise room; the Farmer Brothers brand coffee served wasn't very good.
