Not a pet free resort! They lied!

The hotel room was adequate and the location was adequate. For the same money I could have gotten even closer to the slopes and probably avoided the allergy problems I faced throughout my stay.
I have major allergies to cats and dogs and the hotel told me before I made the reservation that they were a pet free hotel. I always have to check due to the allergy issues I deal with. In addition, though I love animals I am not one who likes dog or cat feces, urine or hair on my furniture, clothes or carpet, so that's another reason I only stay at pet free hotels.
The bottom line is they lied to me when I made the reservations and again when I first encountered an animal inside the hotel I went to the front desk and complained. They explained to me that pets were not allowed in the hotel and that if I could tell them what room the animals were in they would make sure they were removed. I spent 4 days fighting allergies and on the last day I encountered another dog in the elevator. Unfortunately I took my frustration out on the poor lady who owned the pet (verbally of course, but no cursing) and she explained to me that as an owner of one of the units she is allowed to have her pet in the hotel. She stated that there were more than several owners who bring their dogs into the hotel. I confronted one of the managers at the front desk as I was leaving and she admitted that this was true. She was completely unwilling to provide me any relief. I fully expected an apology at the very least and some kind of monetary reimbursement for my 4 days of discomfort, but she would not give any more than $100, pretty much a "thats to bad for you" response.
I would not consider this a resort. There are few amenities, if any, that you will not find in other properties at Steamboat. The food at the onsite restaurants was so bad that I refused to eat or pay for what I ordered and ate elsewhere after the first attempt. Everything shut down at 10:00 so there wasn't much to do in the hotel and there was no access to the Cowboys game onsite, I had to go into town to see the game. I'll never go back and am considering a lawsuit to recover the cost of my stay due to the issues I had to face with the allergy problems. I have called my credit card company and will contest all charges. Hopefully I will prevail, but I doubt it.
Bottom line is - if you want to pay more than you need to; if you want to pay for a "resort" and not get it; if you don't have issues with sharing your space with animals, then you might like this hotel.
