Meskwaki Bingo & Casino, Tama

We found out just how good the Eye in The Sky Cameras and Operators were this evening after Playing Craps. We got ripped off due to a Bad Call from the camera operator and the floor staff ignore logic or reasoning. They lost 2 Craps players.

We won a free 3 day, 2 night stay here, with a $50 steakhouse certificate and $50 in casino play. The room, cleanliness and service were all great but the machines were so tight,we far from won ANYTHING at the casino. The Friday night buffet price was outrageous and the food tasted bland and institutional. The next day we used the steakhouse certificate. The $50 got us a steak each(which tasted very charred), one vegatable to split between us and we drank the water(no cost) and still owed .29 cents lol. We left after the steakhouse and skipped staying the second night. It took us 7 hours to get there...So, even though we won this package from Meskwaki, I think we would have done better staying closer to home and saved money and had much better food.

The spa offered first rate services and not at a bad price. My massage therapist was Hyatti and he did a wonderful job! I'll be going regularly from now on!

I will NEVER buy a ticket to see another concert there in my ENTIRE LIFE. I was asked to SIT DOWN at a concert! Not for yelling, causing trouble, being intoxicated, but literally standing in appreciation for the music. The band members kept motioning for people to stand up and be enthusiastic (because it was a concert), and the security kept making people sit down. Rediculous is the only word that I can think of that would describe it. As previously said, I will never go back and I would never recommend any one paying money to see a concert if they plan on having a good time. If I wanted to sit down, I would have stayed home and watched television...

I have been to Meskwaki many times. In fact, I usually go 4x a year with a tour group. This trip in May was wonderful, monetary wise ( I hit a jackpot for $1500). That is until I noticed an itchy bump on the nape of my neck on Sunday. I thought I had been bitten by a mosquito, even though I never ventured outside during my 2 night stay. On the way home, I asked my sister to look at my neck. She reported there was small cluster of red bumps on my neck. When I arrived home Monday night, I did a body inspection and found several other small red linear bumps on both arms, elbows and my hands. After researching the symptoms on the internet, I found the bites to be of not mosquitos, but bed bugs. Bed bugs are real. I'm reporting this incident to the hotel. This has never happened before during any of my previous stays, and now I am a bit conflicted as to if I will ever go back again. I'm monitoring the bites for infection and I am also researching to see if I have a legitimate reason to sue the establishment for pest control maintenance.

We have went to Tama to gamble for years and always loved it there but the last couple years it hasnt been like it used to be its so hard to even find a slot machine that pays there are never any new machines it has gotten to be boring we live in Waterloo and still stayed faithful to Tama but not anymore we will go to the Isle they are just as tight but why drive a hour to give your money away Tama Wake Up you are losing all of your customers put some of your money back in your hotel and casino we want you back the way you used to be and putting all your hard luck stories in the paper keeps people away you were the best casino in the state now we see all your high rollers in the Isle we wish you had stayed smaller anyway all of us in Blackhawk County miss you

Last w/e was my 1st time at Meskwaki Casino. I loved it. I didn't win but had a good time. The machines aren't crammed together so close you can't get a chair in. Staff were friendly and rooms were clean. Only complaint is there weren't enough wait-staff to get drinks. I only got offered drinks 2 times all w/e. I finally gave up and got my own and asked someone to watch my machine for me. I'll go back again.

Can't beat the food prices and find an extraordinarily good dessert bar. People are friendly and hotel is very clean although some of the seats at slots are pretty nasty. ON some visits I could play all day and have fun but lately a hundred dollar bill is gone in half hour. Machines are screwed down and I hear others complaining that it isn't fun anymore and that no one is winning even modest amounts. They do bring in some pretty good intertainment for this part of the country: Kenny Rogers, ect.

I don't live in Iowa but visit family once a year and I have enjoyed going to the Friday night seafood buffet for several years. Until this year that is. The food was not that tasty. I wanted prime rib but the 3 times I went to get some, including once when a new piece of meat was just being carved, I couldn't get a piece even close to done. Maybe medium done at best. I refused each time. You pay $17 and not get the food you prefer. The crab legs were more difficult to crack and get the meat out and they had the legs with the "spurs", for lack of a better term, instead of the smooth legs. That made it more uncomfortable and painful for cracking, especially since the meat wasn't coming out easily. The corn casserole was terrible. My advice is to eat at the grill. The food was good there.

This casino is almost half way on our trips from Northeast Wisconsin to Northern Oklahoma. It's a nice hotel, with better room availability than the casino hotel in Osceola IA where we also sometimes stay. Many people have commented about how tight Meskwakie's slot machines are. I mostly play video poker, and have found their Jacks or Better machines to be the worst I've ever seen. And I've probably been to almost 20 Native American casinos. It's mind boggling that so many people go to this casino. Also - their website has been under construction for almost two months. Never a good sign.
