Don't Stay Here!

The hotel is not a full service hotel. It offers a bare-boned room- the cabin was sparsely furnished, not clean. The grounds were construction zone, the restaurant abandoned. We had to scramble up a hill to get in to it in the driving rain, no steps. Every hotel in Costa Rica had security measures, this had none so there was no feeling of security. We could not spend one night in what resembled a prison cell. Not a place I would think about staying in again-much nicer, cleaner & secure places with more amenities are very nearby.

Beautiful!

Though I stayed here several years ago (I was about 13, I'm 25 now), it definitely left an impression on me. At 13, I was a very picky eater and yet I still remember enjoying most of the food at the restaurant. I also remember the nature trails which were wonderful, and the cabins which were beautiful. The area itself is beautiful too. My only complaint was the 2 scorpions we found in our cabin, but I'm sure there isn't much they can do to prevent that! I plan on going back in the next few years! Definitely give this place a try!

I stayed in a Fountain Suite cabin. It included a large room with floor to ceiling windows with wonderful views of the mountain scenery (with queen-sized bed and table and chairs) and another bedroom and bathroom. Both rooms are wood paneled. All the cabins have small decks with chairs. SAPO DORADO is about a ten minute drive to Monteverde Cloud Forest, where I did the fabulous zip-lines(Sky-Trek). SAPO DORADO also has it's own private nature trails: Sendero Tranquilo. Their restaurant served unbelievably good food. I had breakfasts and dinners there. I would recommend SAPO DORADO to anyone. I intend to return there.
