Although,a drive off the beaten path, a Barnsley Gardens adventure is well worth the backroads, and expense. The roomrates are a bit pricey, but the ammenities more than outweigh the expense. You and your family can be entertained in many different ways. there are spas for mom, skeet shooting, archery, and horse riding for the youngsters, and golf for dad. The food is ample and wonderful from a full breakfast buffet to gourmet palate extravaganzas throughout the rest of the day. The waits at the clubhouse or Rice house can be offset by a picnic lunch on the old (and haunted) estate, or the bistro in the apple orchard. A must is the tour of the gardens and old house of the estate. The golf course, and horse trails wind around the castle giving you a view in all parts of the estate. The guided tour is very informative, but you can go it alone, and still learn of the ghosts. Some say that while you sip on your peach flavored tea and stare into the mist of the estate lake at sundown, you can even see them. Throughout your stay you are treated like royalty. The rooms in the cottages will give you a sense of a beautifully adorned summer house in the mountains. After a fullday of play the bed will engulf you. It was a most restful sleep. Meeting rooms are ample sized and all audio visual and computer presentations easily accessible. Retreats for business or pleasure could be highly successful in revitalizing ones spirits.
