Hilton Rome Airport, Santa Marinella

After staying at this Hilton as a Diamond member i can say this this is on the bottom of my favorite Hiltons. I disliked the service and the Executive Lounge. Executive lounge was poorly stocked and the hostesses their were most unpleasant. The lounge is suppose to be open until 11:00pm but frequently closed down around 10:00pm. My room was about 6 doors away from the lounge and heard loud clanging come from outside the lounge until they closed in the evening as they keep the tray of dirty dishes outside in the hall. This was most unprofessional and was quite noisy. I also had the issue where the staff was cleaning rooms at 10:00pm at night. When i finaly stepped out to ask the cleaning lady to please be less noisy or i would report to the front desk, I was told " Tell whoever you want. I dont speak english anyway!" Hmmm... sounded like good English to me. The front desk was also most un-apologetic to this. On the upside the bus from the hotel to downtown was only about an hour and was pretty pleasant. The bus stops running at 11:00pm and does not guarantee everyone a ride. I heard of numerous people not fitting on the bus each night and had to pay the 80euro cab ride back to the hotel, as there is no train that runs out there that late. The hotel confirmed this.

I liked the fact that they have a shuttle to downtown Rome. I didn't like that fact that you had to pay to use the Internet, they didn't exchange money, the maid didn't get to our room until 9:00 pm. I stood in the line to check-in for an hour and I had reservations. I think just about everyone in front of me had reservations as well. They had only two people working the front desk, which is not practical. A big group was coming in that day and all you have is two people working that front desk? When I got back home, by bank informed me that this hotel tried to charge almost $600 to my account. When I went on the Internet, they told the charges on your card, then when you check-out you can keep it on your card or pay with cash. My question is, "Why did they try to charge that amount on my card, when I paid the 3.50 euros in cash and my room was already paid for through my travel agent?" Very disappointed in this hotel. Makes me not want to stay at another Hilton.

shuttles to downtown rome great lounges connected to airport would be best if a hilton honors member...i noticed a huge difference before and after especially in waits for check in rooms and fixtures are modern and clean

The Hilton Rome Airport is attached to the terminal by a series of moving sidewalks, although I had some trouble finding where the sidewalks begin. The lobby area, bar and resturant were fine. The room was good sized, clean, comfortable and quiet, but a little warn. Flight crews stay there. There are two advantages to this hotel. If you are ariving in the late afternoon or later, you can get in to a room, and get a good nights sleep without having to go into Rome and pay for an expensive hotel for one night. If you book ahead you can ger a much cheaper rate than the $200 to $400 you will pay for a Rome Hotel. The hotel has a shuttle bus, but it is more expensive and less frequent than the train from the airport which I chose to use. This could also be a good hotel for people who are finishing a tour of Italy one day before an early morning flight back home.
