Boardwalk Inn - Kemah Boardwalk, Kemah

The Boardwalk Inn touted it's prime location for the December 31, 2011 New Year's Celebration - overlook the bandstand and watch fireworks from the hotel. The band just loud, could not hear the vocals. The firework display was behind our balcony, not out front over the water - the staff could have told everyone?????? But they didn't didn't. By the time we left the room and walked around to the garage to watch the firework show it was over - never ever again Kemah. Whoever planned the event was a freshman event planner. The Boardwalk Inn will glady take your money for a celebration ($350) but do not expect anything special. The nearby Days Inns, Holiday Inn offer equal ammenities for a fraction of the price.

The hotel was far from elegant. The room was at best a 2 star. The band playing outside was so loud that my spouse and I could not here the Tv in our room. We checked out and never stayed the night. The staff refused to return our money for the night, but the cost on losing $200 and not having to stay a night in this noisy dump was the best option.

Visiting the Boardwalk has been a family tradition for several years. However, after my experience this past week-end I will not be returning. When I called on 10/29/2010 to make the reservation, I made a point to request that I do not receive any room behind any obstacles such as, inflatable displays, ect. However, I did receive a room that was directly in front of the “ZONE” and when I complained about it I was embarrassed by your property manager Penny who confronted me in front of my family saying “that the hotel had record of me (complaining about the room before) being a difficult customer in the past”. At a cost of $200.00-$250.00 per night, I do not appreciate being treated like a second class customer. My question to you is, if “the hotel had record of me (complaining about the room before) being a difficult customer in the past”, why would you place my family in this positions? My family was very disappointed with the treatment that we received this week-end.

My husband and I recently visited the Broadwalk Inn for a mini vacation. We arrived to the hotel rather late. The night attendant was friendly and helpful...Our room was ok...little vintage, but cozy. We had a great time on the broadwalk...rather pricey...so make sure you budget for meals...no room service. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel with superb service...this is not the place for you, but if you're willing to skimp on the luxuries, kick back and have a fun time...this spot may be right for you...the place is also kid friendly...plenty of rides and games!

Not only were we treated very rudely by the Manager on Duty, but also our letter to the owner, Mr. Fertitta, was completely ignored. What was meant to be a wonderful surprise for my daughter, turned into a nightmare. Their printed policies did not support the demands they made of us when we went to check in. Additionally, there were drunk patrons in the garage who made it almost impossible to drive our car past theirs.

Boardwalk Inn was a disaster for our family on Father's day weekend 2010. We booked the Presidential suite, no one told us their elevator was down, we walked around with all of our stuff for about 30 minutes in the summer heat trying to find another elevator but they only have that one, and they don't even have a handicap ramp. The elevator was down during the time we were there. They told us they were fixing it but it did not get fixed during our stay. We had a very hard time getting all of our stuff, up and down those tall outdoor hotel stairs every time we wanted to go down and enjoy Kemah. We had to carry our to-go food, shopping bags, day bags, diaper bag, newborn and stroller. The highlight was late-evening when I had to carry all of our stuff plus my exhausted 3 year old passed out on my shoulder, and balance our sleeping infant in her stroller all the way up those tall stairs. It was very stressful and dangerous; it was the icing on the cake that ruined our Father's Day weekend. But that's not all, to top it off when I told the Manager, James Whitecotton about it, he told me that we could had walked the parking garage ramp! Then he insulted me with a $50 credit. I am an Oilfield Executive staying in a $450 per night Presidential Suite. This is a Landry’s company; they should know better, they completely mishandled this situation.

This hotel is conveniently located to the boardwalk but I didn't think it was worth the price. Our room was facing the boardwalk so it had a nice view during the daytime but at night, those lights on the boardwalk stay on! The blinds could barely keep the lights out. It was horribly bright, even at night. The air conditioner was LOUD. The food at the boardwalk is nice but really, really expensive. The staff who operates the rides are LAZY! When we went there, all the ride operators were standing in a single location chatting - away from the rides. When we asked for assistance, they acted like we were bothering them.

I loved the location of our room just above the children's fountain. The band playes to about midnight, which could be kind of loud at night. The food was great, visited the fish market and Johnson Space Center, both were fun. Starbucks was walking distance from room at Boardwalk Inn. The employees were friendly and accommodating. Good security at the hotel, the police were visible.

Boardwalk Inn is great location if you like crowds (with many locals), loud music at the band until around 10:15 p.m. and some rides that you don't mind paying an arm and leg for to board. Hotel was very quaint and clean, view out window and balcony very nice. I'm an early riser and like a quiet time in lobby while family sleeps. However, the hotel has no coffee (except in room) and no restaurant, except an adjoining coffee house next door that opens at 7:00. There you'll enjoy a $3 cup of coffee and a $5 egg sandwich (very tasty though). My biggest complaint was around 8:00 when the maid in the lobby insisted on running a screaming noisy vacuum while I was trying to surf some desinations on the PC. When I asked her to delay, she insisted and cleaned anyway, oh well. Very convenient parking in garage just outside...nicely laid out facility. Won't return, but worth a one night, one time visit if you've got kids. Very family oriented place.

We stayed here for our one yr anniversary, 04/01/07. It was a nice hotel with a comfy bed and pillows. Had a coffee maker in the room, an oversized bathroom, and we really enjoyed it. We were right by the pool/hot tub. Very nice, we got in both (pool had a some bugs in it though). The staff was very friendly and made sure our stay was great. We even met the cleaning crew mgr who asked us what we thought and wanted to make sure everything was clean. Great location, parking included, and you could sit on the balcony and hear the bands playing. It was a great experience. The only thing was the price. A little over $200 for the night. A little pricey but it was still a great place to stay. We will for sure go back there again. Nice place, great location, and awesome staff.
