Heaters Broken & Mold In Our Room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/07
So as I sit here in our hotel, room 243, just before it is check out time, I felt the need to make other potential customers aware of how inconsiderate this property is. We spent 6 days and 5 nights is the overrated & overpriced holiday inn with a smaller than advertised water park. Unlike other who had issues with the check in process, ours was seemless. In and out in just under 20 minutes. Only glitch was we requested a Sponge Bob room & everyone said it would be no problem, but the check in agent wanted to charge an additional $20 per night. They do provide a free gift when you check in, a small prepackaged candy, for your child. It seems well intended, until they give you their sales pitch to go give up a morning to check out there new preperty, a time share they want you to buy.
My biggest issue with this property is that the water park, wasn't much of a water park. Infact it was 1 zero entry pool with a bunch of toys that didn't work and a 6 water slides. With being here in November, the weather here in Orlando can change from day to day and the sun goes down by 5:30. Well on Friday when we checked in the pool heater wasn't working. The water at the zero degree entry pool was pretty cold & to make matters worse, the water slides were so cold that even I as an adult had blue lips after going down the slide one time. Kids were Shivering at the cold temp. I spoke to someone about the problem and was told on of the heater was broken and they were fixing it. Saturday, same problem. Sunday again it happened. I spoke to a manager, Danny, and first he tried to tell me that nothing was wrong and after 20 minutes and the mounting evidence he admitted they were some issues. I than spoke to his supervisor days later and he too said nothing was wrong at the pool. A few minutes into our conversation, he said there was only a problem on Friday and after that there were no further issues. To make a long story short, my 4 year old son, wouldn't get into the pool. The poolside entertainment was funny, but the "slime" was just pool water and some green foodcoloring.
We had Mold in our room and in our shower, the safe didn't work and to make matters worse the food court cost was extravagant. 3 6 inch subway meal deals was over $27.00. So we tried to food court also, 1 smuckers PB&J, Milk & Small bag of cheeseits $8.00. We never tried the transpertation because it ended 20 minutes after the park closed and you would be stranded or forced to take a cab if you missed it. Bottom line, I could have saved money by staying at a different property. My advice is do your research and don't be fooled by the website and the sales pitch from the reservations department.
