Four Points by Sheraton Portland East, Portland

Location was excellent for our purposes. Close to Airport, Highway 84 and surface transit trains. Entrance to the hotel is not on 181 Ave and getting in the first time can be a little tricky. But when we did, first thing we noticed was that the plentiful parking lot was clean and landscaping well maintained. Friendly, cheerful and yet very professional with a "freshly scrubbed" look, the knowledgable and courteous staff was helpful in every respect: directions, recommendations on sights to see and transportation, best shopping or just giving us toothpaste when we realized we'd left ours at home. Housekeeping is something I always notice and this crew was great. Our room was always clean and sparkling - something I enjoyed emmensely when we got back from a day at the zoo or hiking the Columbia River trails. In fact, they were so proficient they took the pillow case off my daughter's favorite pillow when they cleaned the room. No problem though. At 530AM the next morning, while we were checking out, the desk clerk searched the housekeeping room and retreived it. We loved the "continental breakfast" and enjoyed the pool and spa - although the pool water was a bit warm for our So. Calif. taste. Xavier's next door serves a fantastic "blackened salmon".
