Nicest Days Inn I have ever seen
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/16/11
It was well kept up and looked much nicer than any other Days Inn that I have stayed in or even seen. The staff was very helpful and our reservations were booked properly and it was one of the smoothest check in transitions we've had. The room was very clean, it said non-smoking and definately was, what a relief since I have bad allergies. We would highly recommend this hotel and we will be back to stay again. Better value than winning a couple hundred at the casino.

Worst hotel ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/12/11
We went to this hotel and when we pulled out the day bed food and a child's toy came flying out! The room itself was very dirty! We asked to change rooms and they were happy to give us new room. That room was cleaner but I still did not want to sit down on anything because it was so dirty... mold in the fridge and everything! The hallways smelt like smoke and there were half eaten lollipops on the staircases. Never book this hotel! It looks nothing like the pictures! We didn't even stay the night and when we tried to get our money back we had to fight for it and it is three days later and I still do no thave my money!

Very disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/11/11
As soon as we walked in the building it smelled horrible, the people at the desk were very rude to us. No pleasant hellos, just give me your credit card!!! They just swiped and go. I had to look for the elevator. We got up to our room and it was very dirty looking and smelled. The rug and walls were just disgusting. We immediately went downstairs to ask for a new room, but they had none. So we asked for a refund and cancel the room, they said they could only cancel for the 3rd day. But we explained to him the web site stated we could cancel before 4pm for the next day and he still was refusing to help us. Finally he was going to call his manager to ask if it was okay to cancel. An hour and a half later he got the okay to cancel. We were lucky enough to find an available room across the street at the Ramada for the next 2 nights. So we wanted to go there that night too but there were no rooms, so we had to suck it up and sleep in the gross room. The bed was so gross. We felt like that commercial were the person puts on a hazard suit to get in the bed. The sheets had what looked like urine stains on them and the pillow cases were nasty too. I called down to the desk and the man answered, I asked him to please have somone change our sheets and he said they would be right up. So we went out for dinner and shopping. When we came back 3 hrs later the bed was the same, so I called again. He was even more rude this time, said they will be up in ten minutes, which turned into another hour. The new sheets werent much better. We had also brought food to put in the fridge, but were afraid too cause it was soo dirty. We ended up staying the night, cause we had no place else to go.

Disgusting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/11/11
We checked in around 9pm, and had to wait 20 minutes until someone came out to greet us. The hotel, room, and elevator smelled horrible. Our room hadn't been vacuumed in a while, there was women's underwear tags on the floor, a ping pong ball in the bed, and the sheets had holes in them from cigarette burns. It's a 20 minute drive to the casino, which if you are taking a taxi can get pretty expensive. I'd never stay there again even if I was paid to. It was the most disgusting place I've ever slept in my life. Sheets aren't cleaned, rugs aren't vaccuumed, and toilet paper/etc isn't restocked.

Never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/1/11
I was looking for a lower rate at a deasent place I ususally stay with another chain and very happy with them but still wanted to try a different option. As I walked in I was struck with a strong scent of curry. I asked for a quiet room and got a room on the first floor (which is never quiet) since the second floor is suits only... needles to say quiet I did not get people kept walking back and forth (most of them seemed to be the owners family who live at the motel!) the room was dirty, loud, and I was blessed with a LOUD vacuum right on top of my head at 7am! stick to what you know especially if it's good and don't experiment when it comes to Days inn in Groton CT

RUN! Stay any place but here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/15/10
When we walked in dirt was around the edges of the room. I pulled back the sheets and they were dirty. The man who came to change the sheets was very unkempt (this is being polite). Then the smoke alarm went off at 3am, after several VERY frantic minutes we figured out it was the heater smoking. I called the front desk SEVERAL times, even went down there and no one was at the front desk. I even called the 800 number, but they could not help us. I ended up going to the place next door at 4am.

absolutely disgusting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/10
This was by far the worst place I have ever spent a night in my life. Firstly we were supposed to have a room with 2 queen beds and instead we had a king size bed and a fold out couch. We decided to suck it up and take it anyway. We unfolded the couch and found a pretty disgusting mattress and figured we'd just cover it up with the sheets. Unfortunately there were none. When we asked at the desk they told us that we must have missed them and came up and looked all over our room before finally leaving to get sheets. The sheets they finally brought up were wet and he had to bring up another pair. We then noticed that the stove in the kitchenette was absolutely filthy and there was food spatter on the wall behind the stove. The carpet in the sleeping area had come apart from the linoleum floor in the kitchenette and it did cause me to trip. One of the cabinets had come off of one of it's hinges, there was a mysterious red hand print on another cabinet. One of the legs had come off of one of the tables. Eventually we had to leave for our event and when we came back it was the middle of the night. I went down to ask for a comforter for the bed and had to ring the bell several times before a man whom I had clearly woken up told me that no one works at night and that I might have a blanket in the dresser. There was a blanket that did not look like it had been washed recently at all. Overall, I would say that it would be worth staying at one of the several other hotels in the area.

NEVER GO BACK!
By Seth Mcmartin, 9/7/10
#1 When walking into the hotel you are greeted by a smell that is not nice. It is a smell of old dirty hotel and bad food. A smell that only rebuilding could cover up. #2 Our room was dirty. The rug was dirty. The light plate covers were all dirty. The wood work was dirty. The bathroom did not have a shower curtain in it. The wooden chairs has dust and gum on them. #3 It would be nice if the people working there were a little more friendly. #4 We did not have bed bugs but the thought was in my mind all night.

Great place to stay
I read both the positive and negative reviews before staying here and hoped for the best. I had a great experience, there must have been some major changes from last year. The staff were helpful, the room was outdated and had a very poor paint job but exceeded expectations. My husband and I stayed in a 1 bedroom suite with a kitchenette. The room was clean, and comfortable. I will definitely stay there again when going to Foxwoods. The drive to Foxwoods and Mystic Aquarium are both around 15 minutes. Very convenient!

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/09
I agree with the other posters, the other positive reviews must have been written by staff members; Again check trip advisor. During my stay we observed the following: 1. Bed bugs. We were bitten and suffered rashes as a result. Several nests were discovered behind about the headboard, and several in the matresses. The matresses also had "water" stains. 2. The Innkeeper is constantly using the computer reserved for hotel guests. 3. You'll have to get a new card every day of your stay; they ll tell you a cellphone will erase the card, but I don't have a cell and this doens't happen elsewhere. 4. There people constantly going in and out of the hotel at night that I do not believe are paying guests of the hotel. We suspectected criminal activity on the upper levels. 5. US Federal marshals raided the hotel I believe there was suspected drug dealing. 6. There was a stabbing in the elevator. The blood stained the carpet. The doors to the hotel are not secured at night; so you can go in without passing by the front desk or need of a key. 7. The place stinks of Curry; maybe indians cant smell the stuff but it STINKS. 8. The rooms are not well kept or preserved. Dishes etc are dirty. I don't know how this place stays in business. There are loads of other hotels in the area, I ve stayed at several and recomend the Holiday Inn; Radison isn't bad either.
