This is the third hotel I have stayed at in the Chicago area and I have yet to find a hotel that knows about the downtown area of Chicago.
My stay was only one night, however, the bed was very uncomfortable, they should get beds like at the Marriot hotels. There was something in one of the drawers that had been there for a while and was not mine. They had no maps of downtown Chicago and it was difficult to get my questions answered from the front desk personnel.
There is also a charge for internet use while other hotels have free wireless internet. There was no business center with a computer either.
If they are trying to appeal to the business traveler that is definately not the way.
The attendant in the morning was very nice and hospitable.
We were rudely woken up by the Manager of the hotel after 1 day's bill was due (!) and on check out, were told that all he wanted was for us to get out of his hotel!!!!
Extremely un-professional for no reason.
First of all, arriving to a new and unfamiliar city, there should always be someone tending the desk phone. I was concerned that I was lost driving from the O'hare Airport, so I pulled over on and exit to call the hotel to make sure I was heading in the right directions. (I certainly did not want to turn around and go in the opposite directions because the traffic was going at a snail's pace), So I called and I repeatedly got the recording that I was beening transferred to an attendance, which never happened. I finally arrived at the hotel and quess what?, there was an attendant, but why he did not answer the phone is beyond me.
The entrance into the hotel is ok. But when you get on the elevator to go to your room-immediately when the doors open there is filthy stained carpet. I was on the 2nd floor and it was filthy the entire length of the hallway. Huge nasty stains. When I arrived in my room, I pulled back the covers and instantly I saw brown stains on the pillowcase as if someone had drooled on it. Not just one pillowcase, but all of them. It makes me question whether the linen had been changed. There were toilet paper on the floor behind the dresser.
Extended Stay Hotels need to do a better job @ housekeeping and cleanliness.
When I went to check in they said they had no rooms available even though I had a reservation. They finally got housekeeping to clean a room for me, Then it got worse. I went to turn on the light that night and got my hand and arm shocked. The light switch was popping and shooting sparks. Had to call a 1800 number to get help. They sent the laundry attendant who did nothing until I threatened to call the fire dept for the other guests safety, then she turned off power to room. I then requested a refund so I could go to a safer hotel and they told me I had to come back tommorow becuase no one mans the front desk at night. Still havent seen the refund yet.
