American Inn And Suites Ionia, Ionia

The housekeeping staff is friendly, but not good. There are spiderwebs over all the room doorways on the second floor. The front desk told us that they only had a one room left, but there were no more than 10 other people in the whole building, but he was pretty busy surfing the internet on his laptop. The carpet in the room was ripped and coming up, the whole room hand a sort of grungy feel, and the remote for the TV barely worked. The picture on the TV itself was green. Went down for the breakfast and there was only some crumbs left in the cereal and some old coffee. We just went down to Ionia for a second time and got stuck staying there again, well I said it before and I mean it this time, I will drive in from Greenville (about 18 miles) before I stay here again. The bed was hard and if you decide to stay here I would not look under the bed sheet. The stains might make you sick, but you might not have a choice since the sheet isn't fitted and will defiantly come out from under the mattress. The 'white' towels are at best white-ish and ours had tan-ish stains, oh and yes very scratchy. We were very excited to use the pool...until the band-aid I found, and all the just general litter. I couldn't be more disappointed and will not ever ever bring my family back to this hotel.

I stayed in the American Inn and Suites to celibrate my engament. I rented a balcony suite (For WAY too much money). When we got there the room was raining (leaks EVERWHERE). The pool was closed, the phone was missing, and there was no coffee maker or soda in the fridge (things included with the suit). They did not re-imburse us or discount our room. Then the staff started smoking pot in the suite right across the hall from ours and had even had the nerve to invite us over cuz they were filming a porn in the pool room (prolly why it was closed)! It was pathetic!!!!!

I have uploaded pics, and am awaiting approval on them. This was the worst hotel ever. The carpet was so loose you could trip over it. There was water damage throughout. I had mold in my bathroom, that was covered by wallpaper, and spraypaint. There was a dead roach with cobwebs over it. Hair left behind on the sink (after the cleaning lady had been in!) The pool was closed (we were not told that when we made our reservation) The breakfast was nasty. They had little to none selection. They had no fruit. I could go on, and on! Any one that would rate this hotel anything better than dreadful would have to be on staff, or somehow affiliated with it! I have called corp., customer service. My next step is to call the Health Dept. and the BBB. Mgmt. would not even face me!

I guess maybe I'm picky but when I checked in to my "non smoking" room the hall was filled with smoke (from the housekeeping staff) and my room had it's window open (it was 12 degrees out) and freezing - obviously to air from the smoke. There was no remote control for the TV, the light by the bed was out, the clock was blinking and not set and the area around the chair (that you would need to move to vacuum) was filthy. Not someplace I'd stay again.
