Wish I was there again tonight!
This Drury Inn was a pleasant surprise. I had searched the Internet for a reasonably priced hotel for an unplanned KC overnight. My rate was great, $64/night for a king, no smoking room. I was concerned that perhaps the facilty was not well kept but upon arrival found that it was beautiful! The lobby is inviting, clean and open. Popcorn, sodas and coffee were available and there were several flat screen tv's scattered around sofas and tables.
The front desk staff was efficient and friendly. He made check in a snap! Our room was clean, bathroom spotless (I am picky about bathroom cleanliness)and there were plenty of towels. We walked next door to Cracker Barrel for a late dinner and the service there was good, as usual. There is also a Wendy's next door if fast food is more your style. The hotel is close to Zona Rosa so we had a large number of possibilities to choose from but it was nearly ten and we were tired.
There is parking in front of the lobby entrance or there is gated parking on the side of the hotel. I imagine there is a side door entrance but we didn't park there (got princess parking in front of the lobby doors). The hotel provides an airport shuttle and you can leave your car in the gated lot for your trip. We weren't doing this but it's very nice to know that it's available. The hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool and a small hot tub inside. We looked at it, and the small fitness room, but didn't use them. Everything looked nice and clean. There were some unattended children of early teen years but not so much that it would have been annoying if we'd decided to use the pool.
In the morning, I realized I'd forgotten to pack lotion so I stumbled downstairs at 6:45 to ask for some at the front desk. They were exceedingly helpful and the staff made a point of asking if there were any other personal care items I needed. I was surprised to see that the breakfast buffet was already up and running as it was a weekend and the buffet is scheduled for 7 AM on Sat and Sun. I wound up making up two plates of biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs (from liquid, not my fav due to texture but they still taste like scrambled eggs), sausage patties, bananas and coffee and taking it back to the room on the thoughtfully-provided tray.
Surprised my hubby with breakfast in bed! It was tasty, just needed a little s&p. There were multiple condiments provided, even salsa, shredded cheese and bacon bits for the eggs. There was a belgian waffle maker, too, but we skipped that this time.
The shower was wonderful! Great spray, good curtain, no mold, strong magnets in the bottom of the curtain. I could have stayed in there for hours. I didn't bring my hair dryer so I used theirs. It was fine, just needed to get used to how hard/hot it was compared to mine. The room included a mini fridge and a tiny microwave, wifi, and too many cable channels to watch. Bed was comfortable, a little soft for my hubby but perfect for me. We had six pillows total. I usually hate hotel sheets but these were so soft they felt like thin flannel. Loved them!
Overall, we were so pleasantly surprised that we didn't even mind that the KC airport area tacked on $10 in taxes plus a "bed fee" of about $2. Weird. Since we didn't have to pay for breakfast, it all evened out. We are already planning to stay here again and will make it our KC favorite.
