Perfect Vegas Experience
My wife and I stayed at Paris for our first trip to Las Vegas and, after seeing just about every hotel on the strip, left thinking that it was really the perfect place for us. It was a great mix of theme and luxury, and for a great price: $89 per night for Monday thru Thursday nights (the prices per room fluctuate constantly, so keep checking even after you make a reservation. We dropped our rate by $10 a night when we saw the prices dip, and they ended up going back up shortly after). The Bellagio or Venetian might be fancier, but you pay the price, and the Paris theme was not nearly as obnoxious as NY NY or Excalibur. The room was not exceptional, but it was large, clean, had a nice decor. The bathroom was really nice, with a pink marble tile floor and shower.
The casino generally has an airy feel to it, thanks to the sky-painted ceilings. There were a decent amount of ten dollar tables, but these were much fewer when traffic picked up, though that seemed to be the norm at most places. The dealers were very friendly and glad to banter with us at the tables.
We did have two complaints: The eating in Paris is not as good as at other hotels. The low-end sandwich shop and pastry shop were overpriced. The Village Buffet gets great reviews, but the lines are quite long (we had breakfast there and it was very good, though). The pool area was generally nice, but it had its down sides. During the middle of the day, the sun is right over the pool and there is very little shade (there is plenty in the morning and late afternoon, though). Also, for some reason, the hotel insists on piping in bad pop, dance, and emo-rock music--not the kind of music to relax to. Also, when we were there in the late afternoon, the staff kept stacking up beach chairs and tables, even though the pool was to be open for at least another hour. It did not make for an inviting atmosphere.
Overall, though, we were very pleased. It is also the perfect location if you want to be able to walk up and down the strip. It was right in the middle, so we went south one day and north the other).
