Guangdong Victory Hotel - Free WiFi!, Guangzhou

This hotel was wonderful all the amenities matched anything expected and the rooms were very nice. the area Sha mian island is perfect for a relaxing walk shopping and dining are very nice. i stayed 2 weeks and would definitely recommend this hotel the price was great for the value and comfort.

Just by chance we stumbled upon this hotel on a walk. We were so impressed that we changed our hotels and stayed the remaining days at the victory. It is situated among other historic buildings. And the trees and open spaces, and water gives this place a very relaxing atmosphere. It is also close enough that a 15 minute walk will take you to one of the main shopping districts in guangzhou. It is also just a 8 minute walk to see the river boats and lights. The price is just awesome. A terrific value for its location. Other hotels in the area are much more expensive. This hotel is a great deal. It is well kept. There isn't much noise here because of the surrounding trees and water. So for the sensitive sleeper, this place is great. There are 2 banks about 5 minutes away. A 7 eleven around the corner, and numerous other shops and restaurants in the adjacent buildings.

I really liked this hotel. A bit away from the hustle bustle of Canton but easily accesible to everything. Also the island is beautiful. If you are looking for the full on Chinese experience however the area may be a bit European for you.

After two stays at the White Swan, we ventured out to see the Victory Hotel down the street. The Annex of the victory hotel has newly remodelled rooms, about 40% to 60% larger than the white swan rooms we stayed, for 1/2 of the cost. If you call the sales department directly (DO NOT ask the front desk and do not go through a travel agent ... they either have worse rates, or would have rates that do not include bkfst or crib ... deal with the Sales Manager directly, better yet, have your agency ask for a group rate) and ask for a special adoption family rate, you can get the Annex (pronounced in Chinese as foo-low) Business Room for RMD 480 (exactly half of the 960 we paid at WS) which includes 2 brkfst, free internet (100 per day at WS), and free crib. The Annex building is quiet, facing a small one way street, and even more convenient and much less commercial. Service is excellent. Be sure to check out different rooms before formally accepting the room ... all rooms are nice, but are of different configurations that may meet different family needs. Also, free English computers in the room too. One word of EXTREME caution: when you check in, the hotel puts a discount sauna card in your room key folder. You would expect, with this caliber of hotel, that the sauna (ground floor) is a nice place. DO NOT VISIT THE SAUNA. It is a brothel. Shocking as it may be ... it really is, cater to "all" needs of the travelling businessmen. I unwittingly went into it (having gone to many legitimate massage places to sooth my aching lower back) and discovered, to my great embarassment, what kind of establishment it was. I apologized to the short-skirted girl and exited before my massage is done. Again, the Annex is away from the main building and far away from the brothel. If you simply remember this one thing to avoid, the Victory Hotel (Annex building in particular) is a great alternative (better, we think) than White Swan for 1/2 of the price.

My stay at the victory hotel was exellent . The staff from management all along the chain,well above average ,i was made to feel at home there , nothing was to much bother for anyone of the staff .My room spacious , cleaned twice a day , laundrey ,10 out of ten ,get it all done befor you leave it makes more room for all your gifts . Food ,well above average , breakfast under a �5 full English and or continental as well as Chinese . Try all . Taxis from the hotel are well managed and safe ,the drivers are accountable .I realy look forward to my next trip to China and again . Thank you Victory for making my first stay in this country , warm friendly ,charming and welcoming .
