Key West Inn, Fairhope

My husband and I stayed only one night June 9, 2012. All I can say is the young man at the desk was very nice and when I requested 2 extra pillows it wasn't any problem. Our room was very clean. Carpet looked almost new, Curtains were in great shape and neatly cleaned and pressed, the beds were clean and only issue was the bed was a little hard for us but, for one night we could handle it. The bathroom was clean with plenty of clean towels and I found NO dust or grime any where. I saw before staying there that there certainly were some bad reviews so, we made the reservation and said if it was that nasty we would check-in and check right out. Glad we didn't go by the past reviews because they did not represent the Key West Inn we stayed in. Hope everyone that reads this will give the little Hotel a try because we found no faults. I can tell you I would not stay and sleep any where I thought was nasty and unsanitary...... I understand by the reviews that some people had some very serious issues with there stay and all I can say is our stay was well what we paid for it...

Not sure about these other 2 reviews.. .one from 2007 and one from 2009... I don't know, maybe new managment?? I stayed there Memorial weekend and had no problems, the room I was in was clean (although it did smell of smoke)... it was a smoking room, but it wasn't that bad. The staff was friendly, the continental breakfast was good (typical, danish, cereals, bagels, coffee, juices, etc)... but more than enough to get you started on your day. I will stay again if in the area.

If your looking for a true flop house experience, the key west inn in fairhope alabama does not hesitate to provide it. my husband and i stayed at this motel because we initially thought that we would spend so little time in the room, so why spend more money---i now know why the extra $30 for the holiday inn one block down the street would have been well worth the additional cost. On our first night at this flop house, we were awaken by a lot of loud noise and shouting in the room above ours. i called the front three times to complain, and the third time the desk manager told me that he had called them and that was all he could do. After the last call,this hugh group moved their party outside, and were speaking in what i persume to be spanish. obviously, this establishment obvious doesn't have a problem with renting one motel room to too many men that want to party and distrub respectable guests. The next morning when i complained to the manager, she assured me that this group had left, and though she couldn't refund our money, she would put us in a better room, This room as well as the first one was throughly filty. When you enter you are overwhelmed by a strong odor of carpet fresh, and then after that settles down you have to inhale the strong fumes of clorox. as we were leaving the next morning, i noticed that a small carpet sweeper was outside the room: this machine is very inadequate to vacum up the filt in these rooms; it just stirs the dusk and animal hair. i complained about this problem to the manager, when we were checking out, and she informed me in a very loud voice that i had an attitude problem. Since returning home: i have coughed for four days, and i do not have sinus problems.i have called the fairhope police department, and have found out that they have frequently responded to calls at the Keywest Inn, because of the type of guests that they elect to have lodging at their business. Also, the health department is well aware on the lack of sanitary problems in this flea-bag motel. Most assuredly, i will never put my health or safety at risk again, by lodging at the Keywest Inn in Fairhope Alabama.
