The room are nice and spacious. The problems I found wrong with the room was...bed was hard as heck and the pillows were flat. Also, make sure that you bring everything you need such as toliet paper, and cleaning supplies since they don't provide these things. Also the lady on the second shift was more worried about her personal call than our questions. I would stay again but be more prepared next time. A word of advice for the manager....keep your employees off the phone so they can attend to the guest!!

When we checked in, they put is in the wrong room initially. The receptionist was rude and very stern. The next night, we came back to find someone was already in the room. When we went downstairs, she said that the manager made this decision. Our stuff was stacked on the floor behind the receptionist. She said we were supposed to be in the room that was wrong to start with. We reminded her that we reserved a double bed non-smoking. She said that you can check out if you do not like your options. The bottom line is they think they have the right to remove your personal stuff and store it without a bag or any protection and in front of every one who passes by the front desk. Stay at your own risk. I would not recommend staying in any of this chain no matter what the circumstances. It is worth staying up the street for about the same amount. Now I know why UCSB does not even list them in their recommendation list of hotels around the area.

Why a hotel spends money on furniture and decor without considering the comfort factor of the mattresses is beyond me. That was the hardest mattress I've slept on in years. We'd planned to stay for a week, but moved to another hotel after the first night.

The extended stay was comfortable but showed signs of age. The front desk people were very friendly and helpful with the few requests we had. For the price it was fine.

We are currently staying at the ESA off Turnpike in Santa Barbara. We're here for a month, while waiting for our home's escrow to close. The reasons I'm disappointed: 1. The carpet is filthy. Yes, they vacuum it weekly, but I doubt it's been cleaned in years. My two year olds white socks are black in just minutes after walking around. Very unsanitary. 2. The room is dank and musty smelling. The bathroom smells unless you run the light/fan 24/7. I just figured out the smell is eminating from the sink drain. 3. They don't provide coffee. Only one packet a week, and you buy the rest from the vending machine. I've NEVER experienced this before (not even at the SandPiper Lodge here in S.B., which is also an "extended stay"). You get as much coffee there as you want. 4. They provided ONE (yes, ONE) set of silverware. They knew we had two adults and one child coming in, but we had to go buy some! There was NO microwave cookware, so why give us a microwave? We had to go out and buy that too! 5. They bill their wireless internet as "high speed" and it is anything but that. It's slower than dial up and I'm very disappointed, given I work online for a living. I've had to rent alternate office space because I can't work. To be fair, the positives are: 1. Price 2. Location But, over all, they need to clean this hotel up, give it an internal face lift and clean the carpets.

On the plus side: the staff was friendly, there is wifi access in each room, coin laundry and kitchens equipt with a burner, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and fridge (no oven). On the negative side: the beds are stiff and uncomfortable, there is no shampoo, salt & pepper or dish soap provided with the room (see the dispenser), you have to pay for wifi access (~$4./stay for unlimited use - but it can be unreliable), and it can get a little noisy so close to the highway. There isn't much of anything close by - so it is best to have a car. Overall, it isn't a bad place to stay if you plan to be in town for a couple of weeks - but it's pretty basic.
