I'd go back...
By ,
We stayed at the Hotel Canal for three nights in Sept. 2007. It's located conveniently close to Piazzala Roma (about a ten-minute walk over two bridges),from where we had taken the bus from Marco Polo airport. The #1 and #82 vaparettos are also very close. The room was small and rather funky and we had to pay extra for a canal view, but it was worth it. We woke each morning to the smell of freshly baking croissants. The garden breakfast was charming. The hotel staff was extremely helpful, happy to make reservations for us and helping us find the right vaparettos to get us there. When we left Venice, it was a short walk to the St. Lucia train station for our train.

exactly what I dreamed of in Venice
By ,
We paid extra for a canal view which was well worth it. It was a little noisy but being woken up by gondeliers singing and motor boats zooming past was offset by the quiet moments when all you can hear is the water of the canal gently lapping outside the window or being able to sit in bed and watch the traffic on the canal. Compared to the noises that wake me up at home it was heaven! The staff were great and dining room beautiful with good food, waking up to the smell of hot crosiants and coffee was a nice way to start the day. It was a very convienient situation easy to get to from Piazza Roma where all the transport stops. So you can drop off our luggage before you get lost in Venice but also easy to find your way home as there are lots of signs for Piazza Roma. We did meet someone who didnt have a canal view and their room was extremely small but our was very spacious, with three large french windows with overlooking a side canal and the grand canal. Lovely furniture and chandliers and a nice little bar to have a drink before bed. We loved it and would reccomend to anyone who can cope with a little noise.

Great hotel! Located near the train station which was convenient. Staff was helpful, stored our luggage before we checked in. Room was nice with a decent view.
