Unscrupulous and Dishonest Front Desk Staff
By B, 9/13/10
The room was good for the price and clean/quiet. The location was also convenient. However, a few employees of the Holiday Inn Express front desk staff /”managers” were extremely misleading when I questioned them about transportation options to return to the Seattle Airport for our return flight home. My partner and I rode the public transit Link Light rail when we arrived in Seattle to get to our hotel at the HI Express Seattle Center for $5.00 total (40 min. ride) and easily took a free 5 minute bus ride from the train station to the hotel. Therefore, we wanted to do the same exact thing upon our return to the airport to fly back home since it was straightforward and very economical. Why waste money taking a shuttle or taxi for $35-40 each way? On Saturday 9/11/10 night I asked the front desk what bus my partner and I needed to take to get to the Link Light Rail station in Westlake Center that goes to the airport and that our flight left at 10:15AM. The front desk “informed” me that the Link Rail train did not start running until 9AM and we would have to take the Town Car service for $35 to get to the airport. The employee then stated HI Express has a relationship with the Town Car/Shuttle company and would book the ride for us for $35. I grudgingly agreed since they emphatically advised me that I had no other lower cost options to get to the airport in time. Since the Link Rail Train didn’t begin until 9AM on Sundays. I informed my partner about what the front desk told me and we both concluded it was nonsensical for a public transport train to start that late (9AM) since numerous travelers and Seattle residents need to take the train early. I checked the Link Rail website on my on at discovered the train begins at 6:20AM on Sundays! I also called the 24 hour transportation hotline and they confirmed the train begins running at 6:20AM and they also gave me directions to the 2 minute walk behind the hotel where we could catch the bus that would easily take us directly to the train station. I truly believe the hotel makes money off booking Town Car/Shuttle services to the airport and purposefully deceives tourists into paying the $35 each way instead of advising cost effective and easy ways to get to the airport. My partner and I were extremely upset and wanted to voice our complaint to the hotel manager. I called twice from the room to try to speak to a manager and was put on hold for extended periods and had to hang up both times in order to have enough time to begin our transit back to the airport. On the 3rd call from our room I was told a manager would call back quickly, we waited an hour an never heard back. There was also no manager present at the front desk. I also called the HI Express when I returned home and was put on hold again and unable to speak to a manager. I would not stay at Holiday Inn Express again. I do not like being lied to or swindled.

Not worth the price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/31/09
You can do much better for $200 a night. Apathetic staff, lousy parking. I have stayed at much nicer budget hotels and paid far less.

Recomended a nice hotel to stay at
By n-a, 7/25/08
My friends and I rent a two room suite which was very clean and nice. The price for the suite was very reasonable as it did have two bathrooms and a sitting area. The staff was very friendly as well as willing to go out of their way to help us find place to eat in town or things to do in the area. When we went down for breakfeast I was just expecting cereal fruit and danishes but they offer those items plus toast bagels eggs bicuits & gravy and several different types of drinks. I would definently stay here again as well as recomend this hotel to my friends. To any of the staff who reads this review Thanks for making us feel welcomed.

Not bad for a place to stay...
The staff was great! Greeted us with cookies, which makes them okay in my book! The free internet was a definite plus as well. We really didn't like the location because we were on foot, and it was akward to cross to the hotel...and kind of scary at night. But we are two 20-something girls so maybe we are just wimps. The room was clean. The only thing wrong with it was the lack of curtains. There were some sheer drapes over the windows, but they didn't keep out the light. I like a dark room, so the second night we put up a blanket over the window, and all was well. Overall, I would stay there again...especially if I had a car next time.

Horrible Parking
By Adam M, 6/30/07
The major problem I had with this hotel was the parking. There was just barely enough parking available. Also many of the parking spaces in the garage are partially blocked by support poles making it very difficult to use them unless you happen to have a very small car. In fact on my way out I had damaged my rental car while backing out after I checked out of the hotel. Luckily I had insurance on the rental car so I didn't have to pay for the damage. On top of all this the hotel had the nerve to charge eight dollars per night for parking even though there was not a whole lot of places to park. It was not worth it.

Great for kids-bad for SUV's
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/06
We were very impressed with the hotel staff, the cleanliness, the rooms, the pool, and the continental breakfast. One problem... If you have an SUV good luck parking. The undercover parking has an unusually low clearance and the limited outside parking is very narrow. I heard a number of people complaining about this and they suggested we go to an unattended overflow lot a block down the street. No thanks. We parked in an end spot in the front hotel parking lot and had our window bashed in during the night and things stolen from the car ie. gameboys, coats, dvd player, movies etc. We had an alarm system and everything. The staff was very helpful and helped me clean up all of the glass everywhere but the ride home was a bit chilly! BE CAREFUL!!

I would stay there again
By Teela, 6/18/06
This hotel is within walking distance to the Space Needle, but make sure you ask the front desk staff how to get to the Space Needle because Aurora street only allows for pedestrians on certain intersections. You may even be able to walk to downtown depending on how good of a walker you are. It was easy to find and the neighborhood appeared decent. The parking garage was very secure (but you do have to pay for parking). I did see the public bus stop down a bit from our hotel so I assume you could take that to destinations in Seattle. The hotel room was clean-a tad small but fine for 2 people. Only problem we had was the noisy people around us. Breakfast was decent too and food was always stocked. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay here again, but I would also like to stay somewhere in downtown so you can walk to most places instead of drive.

When can we go back?
By DevanW, 3/12/06
We were a little worried after reading less than great reviews for this hotel. So we were pleasently surprised. Very clean, nice rooms, and comfy beds. The staff was very kind and had lots of good advice for dining and attractions. Great breakfast, with something for everyone. The location is excellent, close to many different things without being in the middle of everything. Don't rely on the hotels van, however, we wasted precious time waiting on it. We'd definately stay here again.
