Great place to visit -
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/11
We had a great experience at Valley House Inn. The owner was very helpful trying to find things for us to do in the area. We found the Inn very clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed the beautiful valley and the well cared for Inn. We had a great breakfast and enjoyed ourselves.

Loved the Inn!!
By Naomi, 8/10/11
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Valley House castle room. The room was wonderful, the bed comfortable, the decor appealing and the breakfast was fantastic! We hated to leave such an inviting residence in such a charming town. Ruth, thank you for being such a gracious hostess and making our time in Huntsville so special and memorable! We will definitely give you a call if we return to the area.

Update from our review
By Vincent Foley, 8/4/11
After writing this review and filing a dispute with American Express for our night at the Valley House Inn, I was contacted by Tara, the Business Manager who apologized for our experience and offered us a full refund, which we accepted. Tara seemed genuinely caring and processed the refund. We hope that they will take our concerns seriously and do some updating so that no other guest has the same experience. We were heartened that they did eventually respond back and apologize.

If you like old, smelly and funky, stay here!
By Vincent, 6/25/11
We had made arrangements with the Innkeeper to arrive late since we were travelling a long distance and we had planned this as our stopover to relax and rejuvenate on our way home to Seattle and arrived at 1 am. We selected the Inn because it is advertised as a completely non-smoking facility and we are both very sensitive, but found that our room had been smoked in and the odor permeated everything. We were exhausted from our drive and wanted to try to get some sleep so we tried to stay. We opened a window, tried to run an air conditioner in the room but it was too loud, moved the curtains away from the bed (they had a very strong dust and smoke odor), but when we laid down in the bed, we found that all the bedding also smelled throughout. ( The Inn overall is old, tired and worn, and really very funky. The room that we booked was the Crystal Palace, which advertised a private balcony, but the room was off a very cluttered looking family room up a very narrow staircase, shared with the other two rooms, and the private balcony was off that family room. ) There was just no way we could sleep in this really smelly room so at 3:30 am, gave up and packed up the car and left, leaving the room key in the room as was requested. We did not have the romantic respite that we were hoping for and paid for. We drove as far as we could with minimal sleep and pulled into a highway rest stop in Utah where we both had 1 1/2 hours sleep. We continued our drive back to Seattle alternating sleep and driving between the two of us. When we contacted Ruth, the owner to express our concerns and ask for a refund, her reaction was to deny there was any problem, she cleaned the room before and after we came, and there was no smell, so no refund, too bad!!! While she claims to be sensitive to smoke too, she lives in this old house and obviously is immune to the odor if she can't smell it because the odor was throughout the inn. So unless you like old, funky and smelly, pass on this place!

not what we thought.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/21/11
It is an old building and we could look past that but we heard every sound the neighbors made and heard the bar goers across the street. We could use the tub but the jets were not working and we couldn't let the water out when we were done or the septic system would back up. Not that great of upgrades and not worth the price. My husband gave each other a kiss and went to bed. We couldn't have been romantic even if we were dying to.
