Hyatt Place Hoover, Hoover

We were staying on the sixth floor(top floor) of this hotel. For some reason, we had this sensation where it felt like the floor was giving in, and it felt like we were on a cruise ship. It did start to go away slowly, and it even happened on the first floor in the lobby. It only happened after we got off the elevators which were very cheap and bounced a lot. Also, we were the ONLY people in the entire hotel that had this sensation.

Very Unhappy I was not happy with our stay. I had requested a King & were given a double. I was able to have it changed. We stayed for four days. One elevator does not operate properly. We were stuck at times as the door would not close all the way. Very scary. There was a foul odor in the room & hallways. We went for breakfast in the lobby & ordered. After paying, our ordered was not available. When served our substitute meal, we were disgusted to find a long dark hair scrambled in with the eggs. The room was not cleaned properly when we arrived, there was a crusty substance on the pillows on the sofa, mildew in the toilet, dirty glasses & the shower was dirty. The housekeeper department did not vacuum, wipe the counters or sink. I had to ask them to return twice. I could certainly list other problems that we had as well, for there were several more. I will just say that I feel that the quality of this particular hotel is very poor. It does not live up to the expectations of a hotel chain of the standing of this organization.

Although, the hotel has been recently renovated and is nice the customer service would cause me to question a return visit. I recently made a group reservation for 14 rooms. The rooms were paid for in full in advance and a detailed rooming list with names was provided to the hotel. Several phone calls and emails were made to the group reservation attendee on staff to ensure an easy check-in for our large group. Upon our arrival to the hotel, I was greeted by a less than courteous or professional staff. In actuality, the group sales associate only made a reservation for me....nothing else. The receptionist did not use the rooming list I had provided and did not take the time to simply add the room number in the space I had indicated, but rather starting calling out random room numbers to me. I ended up standing at the front desk for over an hour trying to get the 14 rooms that had again, already been paid for in full and should have been ready for me. I have traveled with groups for over 15 years and have never experienced this level of inadequate preparation by a hotel staff. The rooms are very nice and the location is ideal, however I am hopeful that all employees will receive better training in the future.

As i sit in this hotel room, I regret my choice of staying here. Issues I have are: painfully slow wireless access, 5 stations on the tv. Rooom is dirty, stained carpet, ripped sofa cushsions, walls a little thin. First day no room service. Arrived at 11pm after a 13.5hr drive and slept in the next day till 10am with the do not disturb sign on the door. Left came back at 8pm to find roomservice didn't show up. Asked at desk and was informed that if you have do not disturb they don't come backlater. Apparently if your not ready to have your room cleaned when they want... your out of luck. I am a very easy going fella, posting on a yahoo opinion board about a hotel stay is not something I would normaly do. Anyway to put it bluntly I would never ever stay here again. I rather pay twice as much and get a decent room. Paid $119 night. I will try to end on a good note: Location if you need to be in Hoover is very good.

The hotel is decent and is clean. however there is nothing special about it and looks very old. It's need some renovation. I just thought it was a little overprices for the way the hotel looks. Also, the TV only have like 10 channels and the wireless is the slower than dial up. The free breakfast is nice added value.

King size bed was not made with correct size sheets and mattress very hard and thin. also had to wait until 6 pm to check in. a/c was noisy also.
