Hampton Inn Roanoke/Salem, Salem

This property is really showing it's age and is not up to the standards I would expect from a Hilton affiliated property. I experienced issues with maintenance and cleanliness and found the management to be pompous and rude.

Hampton Inn Roanoke- Salem is perhaps one of the nicest Hampton-Inns in the state of VA. Nestled in the mountains, it is a very well kept hotel. The rooms were spacious and very very clean. The continental breakfast was good and the staff was very friendly. If you are traveling to the Roanoke area and would like to have a very nice stay at a very nice price then this hotel is the one that you should consider. I will visit it again. The star rating should be higher for this property. I actually copied this comment from another person to say it has not changed in a year. I normally stay at the Hotel Roanoke when in town and this time the Hotel Roanoke was booked, but I was pleasantly surprised at this particular Hampton at the cleanliness, the friendliness of the staff. My husband and I really love this hotel. We stayed in a suite and it was roomy and clean and quiet. We rested extremely well. I would like to personally thank the staff for making our stay great. One last thing we arrived late and my three year old wanted some fruit loops and of course the staff insured she had fruit loops and an apple. Keep up the great work!!!!

I recently stayed at this hotel for a week and was disgusted by the uncleanliness. The first thing I do when I go to a hotel is pull back the sheets to see if the bed is clean. Sure enough, the sheets were "lived in". I won't describe here what I saw, it was gross. No housekeeping at night, so I had to go ask the front desk for some clean sheets and I changed the sheets myself. The minifridge had what I assume to be "cockroach droppings" all over the top of the door and the bathroom shower had hair stuck to the walls and the floor was muddy. The hot breakfast is gross - just stick to the fruit and cereal, trust me. Friends of mine stayed at a comparable hotel across the street that was apparently cleaner and $50.00 a night cheaper.
