Dont drink the water!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/16/08
For $2500 combined, including flights, 6 nights hotel, food and drink, the Palace Macao was a great discount vacation. However, the food was awful and my husband and I both brought home a parasite that wreaked havoc on our digestive tracts for days until we sought treatment. Neither of us drank the tap water, but we both drank ice water provided at the restaurants, which they assured us was safe. Either we were lied to, or we caught it some other way such as on the fruit and vegetables or dishes that were washed with the contaminated water. While we enjoyed our stay on the beautiful beach and nice pool area, the Macao will go down as the place that made us sick! If you do go, be prepared to be on Cipro when you get home!

very very nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/07
Heard good and bad. Let me tell you, this place was superb. We were there in mid december, the weather wasn't perfect but the vacation was still great. The food was better than any place I have ever eaten, the service was exeptional, the beach was world class and the people were very friendly. We met people that had been there 5,6,7 times and we are going back in February. Highly reccomended

Best Honeymoon EVER!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/26/07
The smiles of the staff and attentiveness were more than astounding. My husband and I were treated like family and royalty at the same time. Our every need was met with humor and happiness by the staff. This was true paradise. We actually contemplated how much it would cost us to live at the Riu Palace Macao because it was beyond perfect.

A Nice Resort with a Nice Beach
By Dat, 6/28/07
We just spent a week at the Riu Palace Macao, Punta Cana, 18-25 June 2007. The Palace Macao, in a remote resort area, is nice with a very lovely beach area. Service personnel do an excellent job to keep everybody served and happy. Little tips to show appreciation for their good service would certainly be recommended since they truly deserve that. The swimming pool is relatively small compare to the size of the resort; but who goes to Punta Cana for a swimming pool? The beach is very clean in the morning, but surely has seaweed in the afternoon. The beach area is beautifully and lovely covered by coconut trees providing natural shade areas. In general, we were happy with Riu Palace Macao and Punta Cana, and would highly recommend this resort to our friends and family members.

The hotel was great. Very clean and friendly atmosphere. Food and entertainment was also good. We went with 2 families , 9 altogether and we all had the best time. We'll go on our next trip with RIU again. We were all pleasantly surprised with the resort.

How can you not Love this Place?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/4/07
My wife and I just returned from the RIU Palace Macao and we are already missing it. I really don't see how anyone can write a negative review on this Hotel. The Grounds are very well maintained, the pool (though small) is always nice and clean and our rooms were beautiful, the mini bar well stacked and the maid service excellent. I found the food to be quite good and their was a selection for everyone. You must be ultra picky if you can't find something good to eat at this place. We didn't eat at any of their specialty restaurants, however that was due to the outstanding food they always had at the main buffet and it wasn't necessary. The thing that stood out more than anything at the Palace Macao was the staff. Man, I tell you. These folks bent over backwards to ensure that anything we needed was available to us. I found it incredible that despite the long shifts and hours these folks work, that they remain sincerely friendly and always with a smile on their face. The guys that serve you drinks at the pool (Antionito, Jose, etc) are out in the Hot sun from sunrise to sunset bringing you any thing you want to drink, always with a joke or a good word. Then, you would see these same folks in the evening, dressed in Tuxedoes working the bar and bringing you drinks with the same enthusiasm. One evening, my sister-in law commented to one of the girls who serve drinks how pretty the earrings she was wearing were. The very next evening, the young lady, while working comes over to my sister-in-law and hands her a small box with the same earrings, and tells her, this is for you. It was the same earrings, and she refused to take a penny for them. We have stayed in sveral RIU's around Latin America, but the incredible service, kindness, dedication and sincerity of the staff at the RIU Macao was the best I've ever experienced. On our last day there we went around to say goodbye to everyone and of course to Tip many of them (of course you don't have to, but man how can you not after the way they treated you) and the hugs and goodbyes were truly heart felt and one of them literally got emotional at our leaving. So folks, Listen carefully. If you want to stay in a place where you are truly going to be treated like family, relax, laugh, eat, drink and just have a fabulous vacation, DONOT, and I mean DONOT hesitate to go to the RIU Palace Macao in Punta Cana. I'm am already looking forward to planning my next trip there. -Pete Rivera
