Great location..BUT
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/02/08
The room was a very good size.. we had a deluxe double double.2 double beds.. matressesses were very comfortable... very firm, which I like( no designer pillow top mattresses, or thick duvet comfortors,or down pillows).convenient small kitchen area with coffee maker, fridge, and microwave.. but . VERYsmall bathroom, bad lighting ( in room as well),no counter space ( very samll shelf above sink), and not one full length mirror..a bit hard for women who want to get dressed with a mirror or put on makeup. Staff very nice, and room very clean..but the location is the best. Very close to all theatres and great restaurants.(Hell's Kitchen and restaurant row on 46th street). and great spot to have a bite late at night. Very safe area.Price dropped 3 times before I left for NY...so be sure and check rates..Internet rates way too high..Call the 800 number for hotel directly.

Location is good, hotel is so-so
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/20/08
I travelled to NYC on business, this hotel has the typical NYC hotel problems - rooms too small, bathroom sink didn't work, poor ventilation, too expensive ($300/night). However, if all you want is a good location this is the place for you - walk to broadway, times square, rockefeller center. Get a room on a high floor for more peace and quiet. Skip the breakfast buffet and go to Pigalle cafe at 48th and 8th ave - excellent quality and fast service for about $15 including tip.

Would stay there again!
By norma E, 10/19/08
The rooms were great...the beds comfortable..bathroom a tiny bit cramped for 4, but not enough that it was bothersome. I had read alot about the elevators but we had no problems. Within walking distance to everything..Everyone was nice and very friendly and helpful...would stay again if every in NY

Not again, there's better hotels
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/05/08
I didn't absolutely hate the Belvedere, but I think there are better hotel values to be had in NYC. Paid $319 (not incl. tax) for a room for 2 persons with 2 double beds; tiny bathroom, and tiny fridge/micro area. The room was at the end of the hallway & looked out over a dirty alleyway. The room itself and the hallways of the hotel had a plain, dingy look. My companion said the hallway reminded him of the movie, The Shining.) Staff was brisk & competent. But I felt ripped off. I've stayed in much brighter, larger, more cheerful rooms for less money than I spent here. One bonus: there are quite a few restaurants in the immediate area, nothing too fancy but seemingly nice places to eat.

Excellent base of operations
By Bart Sanders, 07/11/08
The spot of this hotel is perfect! Broadway, Times Square, Central Park.. they are all in walking distance. Also the headquarters of a very good sightseeing tour is down the corner, very handy. Hint: You can 'abuse' these buses as 'taxi' to lower Manhattan because it's to far for walking. The hotel itself is very clean, nice concierge who had answers to all our questions, nice comfortable room (with TV, fridge, microwave, hairdryer) and some few other nice things like a little shop, an ATM machine and internet access. We didn't have diner or breakfast in the Belvedere hotel, so we can't judge about that.. Not much to complain, except for two minor things: 1. The elevators, they were slow and minimal one of two was constantly out of order. We slept on the 5th floor so for us it was easy to take the stairs, but it would be a major problem when you are on the 16th floor! 2. The airco unit, the one we had on our room was very noisy. It was almost impossible to fall in sleep when the airco unit was on. But these are just two minor things. We can say that this was a very good hotel for us, we don't believe there are any other hotels in this neighborhood for this price and quality. We will definitely go back to this hotel our next trip. The Belvedere hotel definitely made a contribution to our fantastic trip to NY!

Be sure to ask for the updated rooms...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/21/07
All in all, we loved our stay at this hotel. Loved that it was close to Times Square, but not sitting on top of it (approx. 3 blocks away, definately walkable) and we happened to secure a rate that included the breakfast with our nightly rate (which was UNHEARD of at other NY city hotels). It was clean, and had a decent amount of space for NY city standards. As for the complaints one would be that one of our couples had an updated room (like the pictures from the website), while us and the other couple had the 90's themed rooms with pink tiled floors and an air conditioner on a piece of plyboard affixed to the window! Another was the slowness of the elevator. CRAZY! Tip: take the employee elevators located on every floor on each side of the hotel. They say that it's for employees only, but no one seems to mind and after having to pass on numerous elevators because they were filled to capacity, this is definately the way to go. Oh, and don't go expecting a luxurious bathroom. A pedestal sink, toilet and bathtub is all you will find. There was no space for toilitries (had to store them behind the bathroom door). Also, it would be nice if changed up the breakfast every couple of days. We stayed there for five days, and for all five days they served the SAMETHING! I'm not asking for gourmet, but after the fourth day my tastebuds were craving some change! All in all, I would definately return. Mainly for the location (on more of a residential block so it's really quiet for NY standards), and the price for what you get. Just be sure to ask for the updated rooms like what you see on the website and you shouldn't be disappointed!

I LUUV NYC
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/20/07
My husband and I stayed in the Belvedere Hotel last November, which had been recommended by a friend. This was our first visit to New York City. We truly had a wonderful time and The Belvedere Hotel was prefect... But feel it's, just a little pricey, in saying that, I'm now planning our second visit... My only problem is?? Who minds the kids?!!! We didn't use any of the facilities in the hotel (we hadn't time!) ,but felt very safe and welcome... Thank you

Great for traveling with Kids
By Ileana, 08/04/07
Perfect location. Very accesible to all major NY city areas. The people at the hotel was very helpfull with anything we needed. Specially great to go with kids. Having a small refrigerator and microwave in the room made a difference and that didn't diminished the quality of the room or made it look cheap. Internet connection was NOT the best.

Great place!
By Linda, 07/14/07
We were looking for a hotel that was close that wasn't 500 a night. We got this wonderful place! We stayed one night and loved it. The staff was very helpful and warm. The room was a good size. There was a gift shop and a cafe on site. And it was only 2 blocks from Times Square!!!! It wasn't cheap but compared to other hotels in this area and for what we got for our money we are def. going back!

Hidden Jewel of NYC
By Gooner, 06/06/07
I loved this place as it was very near Times Square, it's a nice looking, smaller hotel. The service was wonderful. I checked in wrong and they actually refunded me some money without me even knowing there was an error. We had problems with the heat. The hotel is older and they aren't the warmest rooms. The heating units could afford to be upgraded, but when we called saying we had difficulty with it, they immediately sent someone up to adjust the heat for us. The elevators are small, but there are plenty of stairs that you can use. It's NYC, walking a few flights of stairs shouldn't be a problem after all the walking you will do anyways. This hotel had such courtesy service. I will not stay anywhere else while visiting NYC. It's so near so many things, yet hidden for a little more peace and quiet then hotels 2 blocks down right on Times Square. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
