Wont be going back or recommending
By Lou, 02/01/10
The actual hotel is pretty nice - the atmosphere is great at night. Theres a few proper restaurants and quite a few smaller places to grab something easy. The rooms are a dissapointment though - pretty dated, the bed covers had ciggarette burns and stains, vents were comming of the walls and we were kept up at night by the sound of the ventilation system right outside our window. We were also dissapointed when we arrived that the rollercoaster was closed for maintenance - but then again we were relieved it was off as it turned out it was was right outside our window also (can only imagine how noisy it would have been!). I would not be staying there again.

Probably won't come back...
By Nancy U, 12/08/09
We just got home from our first trip to Vegas. We stayed at NY/NY for 6 nights. We chose this hotel because it was the cheapest deal we found on the strip, and we had read several good reviews about it. While our room was clean, it was a bit dated. We had a view of the strip, but were very close to the roller coaster, even on the 12th floor. We could hear the rumble of the coaster at all hours of the night, even during the week. We had to run the shower for at least 5 minutes every evening to get hot water. Worst part, no buffet with nothing but a bunch of overpriced restaurants. We ate several lunches and dinners at other properties. But, the hotel is in a decent location on the strip with walkways connecting with the MGM and Excaliber. The Deuce bus drops off/picks up a short walk away on either side of the street. The noise of the coaster and lack of buffet are enough for us to look for another hotel on future visits.

Would not stay again!
By Rick P, 11/22/09
We stayed there for our 20th anniversary. When I booked this there were so many places to choose from.in that price range. First at checkin it seemed they could take us or leave us. We could not get a king size bed even booking months in advance. We ended up with 2 queen beds looking at the parking garage. We lugged our own bags in no one offered. There was no personal touch to anything we experienced. I defenietly go some where else for this price there is a lot to choose from.

Stay somewhere else
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/07/09
To start, there is a $3/night mandatory charge for the phone at check in - mandatory in an age when everyone uses a cell phone. The room was not terrible, but small and not a lot of storage space. Very noisy at night. On the last day, the "fresh" towels had blood stains on them. The hallways were very narrow, and made narrower by the room service carts and trays that remained for more than 24 hrs. This is obviously the root of the bed bug problems. The pool is a disaster. Extremely small and unclean. LIfeguards ignore debris (drink cups and cannisters) in the pool, no towels since they remain on the deck and lifeguards do pick them up. For the casino, it was not bad. The people in the "Players Club" are very slow and completely clueless. If you need information, go to another sister casino. Would not recommend to anyone, stay somewhere else.

Went here on our honeymoon and loved it
By Tiffany, 08/18/09
New York New York hotel and Casino is lovely! We went here for our honeymoon in April 2009 and stayed for a week. Desk clerk gave us a room overlooking the roller coaster. The view from the room was AMAZING! I could see the excalibur hotel, the airport and the hooters hotel from our room. Lovely view on the mountains. Room was very clean, I have both cleaned rooms and worked the front desk of a hotel in FL so I am VERY particular about these things! Front desk staff very friendly when you called with questions and gave us a buy one get one free coupon for Zumanity( part of cirque de soliel), which we went to and enjoyed very much. Roller coaster was fun, they have a kids arcade upstairs which my husband and I frequented a lot during our stay. We also loved the America Restaurant in this hotel, had wonderful food that they silver on a silver dish with a fancy lid on it even though the prices were very good. Made you feel like you were fine dining even when we were eating cheese burgers and patti melts. Very comfy bed and nicely tiled shower. The only downfall was the night before our departure we had to do an online check in for our flight home to print our boarding passes ended up costing us 10.00 to use the internet and the printer for two pieces of paper! At my hotel it is free and ther front desk staff refused to print it for us because they have a business center in which to do that. We will be going back next year in April for our one year anniversary and are looking forward to having another great time!

I Will Stay At Another Hotel Next Time
By Will, 06/12/09
My wife got there before me. She had to change rooms because something was wrong. I got there two days later and thought everything was fine. That was until we got back to our room on the first night of a two night stay. When we got back to the room there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke coming through the vent. We did not know who it was since we were in a no smoking room and my wife and I do not smoke. We called the front desk and they were not very helpful. We requested some spray to kill the smell. After two calls and about 30-45 minutes I went to the front desk. The lady at the desk said they should be there. They did arrive while I was down stairs but would not let us keep the can of spray. They said they would do this and that because of the smell but I feel it was not enough. It seemed as if they really did not care. My wife ended up with a terrible cough and throat problems and that put a damper on the weekend. Because of this I will never stay at this hotel again.

Good value for the money
By klb, 05/27/09
We didn't spend much time hanging out at the hotel, but our overall experience at NYNY was very good. We had no problem checking in 3 hours early, and the desk staff was friendly enough. We didn't use the bell service. Our room was as described (we stayed in a Park Ave room). We wanted to use the safe but the previous guest had shut it so we had to call the desk to get security to open it. The guy was there within 5-10 mins and was very friendly. The bed was comfy, the room and linens were clean and the maid service was good. It's not an extravagant hotel but it's pretty darn good for the price. We had no trouble getting tickets for Zumanity within hours of seeing the show (they gave us a 2 for 1 coupon upon check-in). We had excellent seats and it was a good show. The biggest criticism I have is with the food - the pizza place was *not good* and all of the food we had at the cafes and restaurants was good but overpriced, for what you get. We spent a few hours at the pool one afternoon and it was pleasant enough (after all the walking we did the previous two days). Can be tough to get a lounge chair - we got lucky, someone left as we arrived - and lots of leaves from the trees fall into the pool/hot tubs. The water is a bit warm to be refreshing in the heat, but it was still nice to take a dip to cool off. The mixed drinks at the bar are pricey so I drank beer instead. Check out was as much of a breeze as check in for us, as we left two hours before check out time to catch our flight. You will be charged $3 a night for phone usage fee - not sure why this isn't included in the price of the room! Overall we had a pleasant stay and would likely stay there again if we needed to stay somewhere inexpensive.

Covered with bug bites
By deborah, 05/10/09
We checked in late in evening, waited 30 minutes in line. Terrible noise outside of room. Told it was roller coaster running, and they would try to find us another room the next day or so. I waited most of next day and went down, (no help on the phone) stood in line again, and they found us another room. It turned out that there was a elevator behind the wall that didn't stop on our floor). They changed my door key of the first room and I was locked out and couldn't move the luggage until security came, another half hour wait outside the room. Security was very rude and unhelpful. I spent the next day at laundry mat and dry cleaners washing all of our clothes. Next morning I was woken up by a window cleaner outside our 26th room window. We had slept with the drapes open as we had great views of the mountains. Again stood in line to complain an were told it was my imagination and maybe I had been drinking too much as the front desk person had no knowledge of that being scheduled, and if it was scheduled, there would have been a note in the room about it. (I don't really drink). We filed a complaint and asked them to move us to another hotel. The first person employed by the hotel who had any caring was the complaint person who had no power to help us. We found another hotel on our own to move to and finally had a good stay in Los Vegas. We had another 30 minute wait to check out. I spent 3+ hours standing in line between check in, etc., plus half a day doing laundry. The bug bites are finally clearing up. The result of our complaint... we received a form letter in the mail stating that they checked out the SECOND room and found no bugs and hoped we had a great stay in their hotel and that we'd be back.
