Our seven days/nights package was "all inclusive" (mandatory).
Only 2 restaurants, a buffet with theme night dinners also serving breakfast & lunch, and another which we could order off the menu for dinner, maximum one time per stay. Room service was also available once per day, but the menu was very small. The food was marginal at best, most resembling a school or other institutional type cafeteria serving various types of mystery meat. The pool side grill which served only lunch was the best food in the resort. We had a one bedroom suite with a double bed in the living room instead of a sofa. The "all inclusive" mini bar was only stocked once for our weeks stay, giving us only 2 small bottles of water for the whole week. Additional bottles were $2. The beds were literally hard as a rock and I didn't get one peaceful night's sleep while I was there. The A/C didn't cool properly either. The floors always felt dirty, even after maid service. We had no remote controls for the TV & no clocks. The rooms were without style and felt old.
The resort also felt in disrepair although they were doing some repair work around the pool while we were there.
Management did not respond to simple requests, but the staff seemed eager to help and were very friendly. Service was actually very good from wait staff, especially around the pool. The beach was very nice and I was generally impressed with Ixtapa. Great shopping area full of restaurants & stores. Unfortunately, all of the hotels are going "all inclusive" and all of the restaurants seem to be struggling for business. Heard the snorkling trip to Ixtapa Isle was great...didn't get around to it, but don't miss the sunset cruise from the bay which was fantastic! Ixtapa was actually quite beautiful. A diamond in the rough. I'd go back to Ixtapa, I think, but I would never stay at this resort again. No luxury here.
