Chan Chich Lodge, Belize City

The employees were great. we got 3 wonderful meals a day. I gained a little weight though. The hotel was really clean. I would reccomend this hotel if you ever get a chance to go over there.

waking up at dawn to the beautiful sounds of Montezuma's Oropendulas is a lasting memory of my stay at Chan Chich our cabana was so beautiful and comfortable and elegant with a wrap around private veranda, it was our own private oasis in the midst of a beautiful rainforest....this resort is laid out along the lines of an authentic Maya city that once occupied the site.... we mostly birded, ambling along the various trails, saw blue crowned mot mots, etc.... we went on several guided birding tours as well, all marvelous the food was incredible, three delicious full meals a day with a swiss chef, wow, I gained weight there, ha ha! our flight to and from gallon jug was fun, too, with Daniel, the pilot of our single engine plane, that seemed to barely skim the jungle tree tops this is an all time great tropical resort... I also recommend Panama's Canopy Tower and Trinidad's Asa Wright....all marvelous!!!!!

A one of a kind family friendly resort which exceeded every expectation I had. Initially, I worried about being in thousands of acres of seculded jungle all alone, but that just added to the experience. All of the staff was friendly; they knew when to be there and when you wanted your privacy. It was amazing how clean it was considering it is in the middle of a jungle and the pool!!! Swimming in the pool you feel like you are in a jungle lake. My family is not a "birding" family but we felt right at home among some birders and some non-birders. But even our youngest daughter Anna, love the monkeys, birds, jaguars, and Mayan ruins. The size is just perfect, only about 20-30 guests max. I cannot praise this resort enough.

If you are going to Belize, the place to not miss is Chan Chich. Not only is Chan Chich a superior jungle lodge with exquisite dining, but it is located deep within hundreds of acres of preserve. Spider monkeys, howler monkeys, even jaguars, etc. roam around here. You can horseback ride through the rainforest, canoe, go on night rides, explore Mayan ruins on the premises. We found large pottery shards on the trail near a ruin (and left them there). It is truly the Belizean forest nature experience with the comfort and refinement of a top-notch resort. We have traveled extensively and Chan Chich is simply the best!

Spent a week at Chan Chich in August 2004 with my 14 year old son. Great accomodations. Food was excellent. I liked the marked trails which allowed me to do my wildlife photography on my own and at my own pace. The pool was really nice for relaxing after a day of hiking.
