Enjoyable stay
When I was scheduled to visit St. John's on a business trip, I was expecting the worst. I'd never been to Nf before, but had heard all the usual jokes. Imagine my surprise when I encountered a city full of old world charm. It might as well have been one of the smaller Irish cities that I have become fondly familiar with in my travels.
Apparently the locals pride them selves on their hospitality. You will be squired around town by an assortment of friendly characters who seem to have made it their mission to see to it that you enjoy your stay - and tell all your friends about the fun to be had once you've gotten back where you came from.
The Prescott Inn was the gem of the trip. A "Historic Preservation Sociaty" building, it is a suvivor of the "great fire", a 125 yr old masterpiece of Victorian architecture. My host were warm and friendly Jan Peters, and the more worldly Arie van der Reyden. They have a tendency to take guest under their wing, and see to it that they get the best from their time in Nf.
In short, I found my time in the Atlantic provinces un expectedly enjoyable, and due in no small part to the Presscott Inn.
