Bad business practice horribe customer service
By Dan Faust, 9/22/12
This is some of the worst customer service I've ever received. By the front desk and I left a message for the operations manager Paula and never received a call back. As a GM myself in the service industry I find that appalling. We had purchased a Groupon for this place. The Groupon expired but was still worth the price we paid for it $75. I called to book a room for 2 nights. The cost on-line was $225 and an additional $20 to park our boat. I called the hotel and they told me they would not honor the online price and the Groupon. I tried to explain that it was only worth the value I paid it no longer was a coupon. The guy was rude and did not care if I stayed there or not. This is utterly stupid business on their part. I was going to stay 2 nights not 1. I was going to eat at their restaurants, drink at their bars. Spend tourist money in Lake Geneva. If my stay was nice I might possibly become a regular guest. The way I was treated was in no way in line with their mission statement. Maybe they want no guest but still a paycheck ...we’ll see how that works out! Their loss was Delavan’s Lakelawn Resort gain. Always treated good there.

Rugrat Paradise, Beer Schluggers, Filthy Swim Pool
By CHICAGOeleanor, 7/10/12
We thought this would be a great escape from the heat of 100 degrees in Chicago. But as soon as we saw the pool loaded with kids, like flies on sugar, we knew it would not be for us. Also, there was scum and sweat constantly floating around and who knows what else--maintenance could not get rid of it. The pool water was murky and to add to all the rugrats, there were 2 groups of beer schluggers getting drunk alongside the pool edges. The manager had to come and intervene 3 times--they would not keep the beer bottles out of the pool. My oh my---what a disappointment. I guess when you pay prices that the majority of travelers can afford--you get what you pay for. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let this be a warning to all the people who truly want a clean, relaxing escape and not the infringement of disrespectful, obnoxious and in-your-face rude hotel guests. Go to the Grand Geneva, Abbey or Fontana Lake---much classier!

Great deals thru Groupon!
By Momof3, 3/24/12
Great location, comfortable rooms, accommodating staff. Watch they don't charge you for "resort fees" when using your Groupon. Wish their manager was more available. Takes several calls to get her live or wait for a return call. But she will call you back. Great to have a full kitchen and living room area when travelling with kids! A little outdated on the decor, but didn't really care. Flat screen tvs, fireplace, balcony overlooking the pool with easy access to the elevators as requested.

Great Stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/11
We have stayed at the Cove probably 5 or 6 times and have never had a bad experience. Have picked the Cove because it is close to all the shops. We park the car whene we get there and don't use it again until it is time to go. I have never had the same room twice and each room has been great. Am planning on going back again next year, if I can stay away that long. I would highly recommend this place to all!

Great place for a reunion!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/31/11
We had a family reunion at the Cove last weekend, and I'd just like to say that we found the place to be very inviting. The staff at the desk went out of their way to find us rooms close to each other so we could be all together. The rooms were very clean and accommodating. The entire family loved the Cove, and we have reserved for next year. Just wanted to say thank you for a job well done. The Richter family appreciated all of your efforts.

disappointed
By Bonnie, 10/19/11
First of all, should have known better than to go in October...weather was cold, windy and rainy. Our unit should have been called "the cave"...it was so dark with very inadequate lighting available. The decor and furnishings were totally outdated and worn...carpet was filthy. I will say the bed was comfortable and I found no bedbugs. the kitchen was supplied with a full set of dishes, yet not a piece of paper towel or dishcloth. The hall carpeting was also dirty and there was such a maze of hallways with minimal signage to find the pool etc. The outside pool was closed, the inside pool had green mold/slime around all the jets. The place needs a total cleaning and/or update...certainly didn't meet our usual 5 star quality of Diamond Resorts. And lastly, the town didn't seem very friendly. The first 5 retail stores we entered had salespersons who neither greeted us, offered help, or said good bye when we left. Needless to say, we won't be back.

Poor Service and Impossible to Get Receipt
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/22/11
Overall The Cove of Lake Geneva has a wonderful location and large rooms with great amenities such as a full kitchen and a nice bathroom. The service staff at the cove is the worst I have ever met in my life. Here is a list of the issue I had during my last stay their: 1)During check in I had reserved four rooms, three for my coworkers that came in from Japan and one for my self. I used my credit card to reserve the rooms, however when I tried to check the rooms into my coworkers credit card the check in staff gave me an attitude and said he couldn’t do it. I had to ask more than once in order to get him to change the credit card on the reservation. I believe the name of the staff member was Jason. He was the guy with the black bracelets on, who was playing on Facebook while he was checking us in (The Facebook thing was a nice trick, because I really thought he was changing something on the bill, but all he was doing was typing on Facebook.) 2)One of the rooms was not ready when re arrived at the hotel at about 6pm. We were not able to get the room key until 8pm that night. 3)When I arrived to my room and opened the door there was a strong smell of syrup in my room. Since the staff was so rude about the check in I just forgot about it, because I didn’t want the aggravation of dealing with that after traveling all day. 4)During check out we find out that credit cards that two of the three credit cards that we requested be changed on the bill were really not changed. So we have to waste another 20 min trying to change the bill again. 5)The printers were down when we tried to check out, so we were unable to get receipts for the rooms. This is a real problem for my coworkers, since they work for a Japanese company and no receipt means they cannot be paid back for the hotel stay. When we asked if there was another option the staff said that the hotel sales staff would e-mail us receipt that day, however they never did. When I tried to call them about the receipt, they kept on sending my calls to the manager who never answered their phone or returned my voice mails. I had to call over 6 times just to get them to e-mail me a copy of the receipt. After that I had to call another 3 times to get to someone that could fix the receipt. Always they transferred me to a phone that would ring out. 6)After talking to some of my coworkers, it seems that they have had the same types of problems with this hotel too. One of my coworkers who went out their said that it took over a month to get the receipt from the hotel. Another one that came at the some time I did said that they had the same type of credit car problems that I had. The person at the front desk said they changed the card but they really didn’t. I have stayed there 3 times now, once in April of 2006, another time in July of 2008 and again in July of 2011 all on business. I have to say the customer service at The Cove has really taken a turn for the worst. I will never go their again after this experience.

Clean, comfortable & convenient
By K.C., 4/6/11
I thought this place was great, the staff was friendly & helpful from start to finish. The concierge was thoughtful enough to ask if we had children with us so they could give us a room closer to the pool. The restaurant attached to the hotel made it so much easier to step away from the kids & Grandma while hubby & I stole a moment away for a nightcap. The location was well within walking distance to Main Street so we never used the car over the weekend. Everyone had a great time, can't wait to go back again.

Once was enough
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/21/11
Large suite. Check in was OK. Room looked like it was from 1985. Only new thing was one flat screen TV. We checked in on Friday evening and Sat. got up went out to eat and shopped. When we came back to room key card would not work. When back down to car to get second key card and that didn't work. Called front desk and was told (after on hold for 5 mins.) to come down and they would redo cards. We were on the third floor, a long ways to the lobby or back to the car with armfulls of bags. We get down there and find out they had rented out our room even though we had paid and reserved for two nights. Of course they were sorry and found us another room but we were not happy campers. Also the second room was right next to the noisy lobby and the parking was non-existence. Won't go back there again.
