what happened?
I booked with the Great Falls Inn b/c their booking service over the phone was courteous & focused, the cost was reasonable, & the transaction went smoothly. At my initial call, the desk clerk requested to call me back b/c she was waiting on a customer at the desk (I saw this as a sign of good service). I was looking forward to staying at a newer, apparently "nice" space, partly designed to meet the needs of families utilizing to the hospital.
I hadn't arrived by 10 pm, however, so I pulled over & called to confirm my stay. I was told, "no problem, we still have your room for you, it'll be here when you arrive." WHen I arrived two hours later, I was told that I'd cancelled my reservations at 10 pm, and no apologies for their miscommunication were forthcoming. I managed to get my room, however, and stayed for 3 nights.
UNSERVICED ROOM: I arrived home the next evening to a room left completely unserviced, with a note stating something to the effect: "It's our policy that our staff not touch our guests personal items," which was their excuse for doing NOTHING. The bed had a BOOK and a personal PILLOW on it -- unmade. The ironing board and iron were left out (no personal items need be touched). The coffee maker was left unserviced. The bathtub was not cleaned (altho I'd made that request, b/c it had a ring from the previous guest).
FITNESS ROOM: OK, this is just a guest room with a treadmill (which has a belt slipping so badly that it is rendered useless -- it's akin to walking VERY DRUNKENLY), a bike (which cannot be adjusted for height), and an elliptical trainer (OK). The furnishings are basic room furnishings (wall lamps, nightstands & dresser mirrors) -- you don't realize how weird this is until you're in it. The toilet -- while the stool remains in the bathroom, with tape around the seat "DO NOT USE" -- is off limits & the plumbing disconnected.
KEYS: There is something wrong with the card key system that they use, b/c my key & the fitness room keys frequently did not work. It was mildly annoying to have to run down to the front desk to rekey both rooms at least once daily, but MORE annoying that the hotel staff made statements such as "It SHOULD work," (my sentiment EXACTLY, but it DOESN'T) at my every request.
The rooms were adequate (I cleaned the bathtub myself that first evening), and the location felt safe and reasonably quiet. I left Sunday morning, however, feeling disappointed overall.
