DO NOT BOOK!! BAD HOTEL FOR SMOKERS!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/12/10
DO NOT BOOK! If you are a smoker, they will charge you an extra $100 if you are a smoker and stay in a non-smoking room! Erin, the woman at the counter, was very rude when dealing with my complaint. They charged my credit card because they thought the room smelled like smoke. I'ma smoker in a non-smoking room! Duh. They did not have smoking rooms available when I booked! They said they found cups with smoking residue in the garbage. That is because it was raining during our stay and we grabbed the cups from the room to ash in while we smoked in our vehicles and instead of littering in the parking lot, we brought our trash from the truck into the hotel room and put it in the garbage. This staff will make up any excuse to get your money!!! WATCH OUT FOR THIS HOTEL!!
MANAGERS REPLY:
As a frequent traveler myself and the General Manager of a hotel, I feel that people these days understand the implications of failing to adhere to hotel policy. We absolutely offer smoking rooms in our hotel and welcome smokers with open arms. However, my staff and I are extremely diligent to ensure that non-smoking guests are able to enjoy their stays fully and, most of the time, our guests comment that they were under the impression we were a non-smoking hotel. That is just the way we operate. Our hotel is newly renovated and extremely clean, and we do our best to make sure it stays that way. We make it very clear on our registration cards that any evidence of smoking in a non-smoking room will be charged. This covers our time, and the cost for outside vendors to restore a non-smoking room to our standards after it has been smoked in. While I can understand the frustration this guest is feeling for having to endure this charge, our policies are in place for very good reasons.
MY REBUTEL:
It is unfortunate that Erin Lorberter, GM of Country Inn of Chippewa Falls, feels her response is just by stating "most of the time, our guests comment that they were under the impression we were a non-smoking hotel." This statement is irrelevant and unjust in my case and my statement of facts. It is immature to make this statement as the Country Inn does offer smoking rooms and forces the fact smokers are not welcome.
It is also apparent GM Erin, nor her staff, have fully reviewed my statement of facts as there are no other references to my comments except for one comment that does not matter in this case, which is a great display of Erin's ineptitude.
It is clear, through Erin's comments, that Country Inn has overstepped their budget and now needs to recover their expenses in anyway possible, evidently through mischarging their customers. This is detrimental to customers staying at the Country Inn of Chippewa Falls.
I would be obliged to see any evidence in which Erin is able present as all I have seen from her is an inability and immature way of handling this situation. Unfortunately, she seems upset that I am following my rights as a consumer and a citizen of this country in her display of my actions through a concern I am contacting multiple agencies.
The woman who took my reservations did not offer me a smoking room when I booked and told none was available. That is not the issue. Another issue here is the evidence Erin states by the Country Inn not having "but cans" is absurd and not consumer conscious since, as stated by Erin, the Country Inn does offer smoking rooms. This displays the mentality of Erin, her staff and the Country Inn as a corporation when accommodating customers as admitted by Erin.
I have also, as promised, not threatened, but contacted multiple agencies about the immature way Erin and Country Inn of Chippewa Falls has handled themselves and this situation. I feel every consumer needs to know whom these people are and what this hotel stands for, as this is my consumer right and I will exercise my right through farther reporting entities and litigation.
