Spring 2011 Lilac Inn
By 55 Chevy, 6/18/11
Once again my wife, I and our dog Simon stayed at the Lilac Inn. We have been there several times when we travel from Florida because it not only provides us a place to relax and unwind but to enjoy the hospitality of the staff and the Inn Keepers. Once you meet everyone at the Lilac Inn you understand why people come back time and time again. We not only enjoy the plentiful breakfasts in the morning but the peace and quiet at the Inn and on Park Street are worth the trip. You are also within walking distance to everything, dining, grocery stores, antique shops and art galleries. The people in the town and area are warm and friendly so it is a welcome change after the daily routine of work. Brandon is also located within close proximity to Middlebury and Rutland so you if you want to travel 20 minutes to catch a movie or a play you can without dealing with the congestion. Middlebury is a quant town and you can spend your day’s just walking around exploring. Lake Dunmore is down the street as well as Silver lake and are worth the journey to visit. Myself and my wife would not recommend a place that we didn’t truly believe was worth the cost and did not live up to the reputation that is necessary to be rated as a “superb” Inn in our travels. We are planning our 10th wedding anniversary and we could not think of a better place to spend it than in the Lilac Inn and with people that make you feel like you just came home from a long journey.

VALENTINES GETAWAY WASNT WORTH IT
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/28/09
We arrived in small town neighborhood in which the Lilac Inn was very easily located along with other homes next door. The Parking area is located in the back of the B&B.Its Winter time & not snowing in fact a very Sunny weekend but as for the premises of the Lilac there was Thick Ice thats very slippery. We thought they could have done a better job of keeping the area safer with at least some sort cleared pathway to the Inn. Very Quiet night life & small venue of restaurants nearby & although they show they serve dinner at the Inn this was not the case as we were told upon arrival not in the winter season .We were referred to SULLYS - aka-Patricia's. YUK ! Don't order the chicken wings-Fatty-we had to ask for sauce & not a variety offered on the menu & expensive. Our Recommendation ROSIES in Middlebury 20 minute drive Variety menu of selections & nice setting areas & can be seated near a fireplace & what a value. American Flat Bread- also recommended only open Friday/Saturday get there 2 hours early as there will be a line. The Lilac Inn is Historic home & We had the Albert room in which I liked the room with the exception of the Dirty Area Rugs which appeared they hadn't been cleaned for a very long time not something to walk barefoot on.Nasty.As for Bathroom Sink Clogs up with water so make it quick brushing your teeth. The bed was ok for comfort & outside the door connected aside to the our room is a private guest phone room-odd.No phones in the room. Coffee maker around the corner of the room. Shockingly Old coffee packets,I made some for this review. Dirty Mugs,Dirty area,Dirty Spoons & Aged white colored dark chocolate Biscotti in a ceramic vase. The best feature of this room is definately for the winter time. Which is the "fireplace" They don't skimp on the wood & deliver it to your door.Very comforting after a long day or just relaxing with your sweetheart. There is TV room down stairs with DVD's you can borrow or sit downstairs & play a board game if thats what you like doing. In the Morning for Breakfast 1st course: Fruit plate, 2nd course Croissant,3rd Course Bacon or Sausage with Pancakes, home potatoes. Milk not offered but they have Juice & coffee. I didn't care for the coffee but somebody else may.Overall we rated this place a 2 1/2 star for the value of the price paid $ 255 a night plus tax for 2 nights equaled to $ 594.00 comparing the room to other B&B's.Also Pets Accepted. Rating was based on accommodations, service, location, cleanliness, appearance, safety,Inns features & grounds maintenance, Along with outdated webpage & services offered. Website offered Sleigh rides in the winter & this is not the case. Also Dinner Menu again not the case.Snow Shoeing not here.. Nature hikes short drive Skiing short drive
