Disappointed Honeymoon Suite/Romance Package
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/7/10
For close to $300 my husband and I were extrememly disappointed in Shilo Inns "Romance Package" which we paid for the night of our wedding. First of all, we were on the first floor. I expected we would have been (atleast) on the 2nd or 3rd floor. Consequently, the room smelled like chlorine from the hotel pool.
The location (at the time) was horrible. Blue Lakes was under construction and trying to get in and out of the hotel was a nightmare. However, there's not much the hotel could have done about that.
As for the room itself, Extremely tacky. It definitely needs to be remodeled. It was large in size but the carpet was a dark green and the "wet bar" had a glass wall etched with deer and elk...eww. The room overall looked like something from the late 80's. The package promises a vase of long stem red roses and chocolates. Try 2 half-dead pink roses and hershey kisses. It also promises champagne...yeah, the cheapest stuff they can find. They also promise two Shilo-etched souvenir glasses and corkscrew. We never saw a corkscrew and who wants to keep 2 cheap wine glasses with "Shilo Inn" etched on them?
I dont exactly know what our $300 went toward but one thing is for certain, we will never recommend Shilo Inns Romance Package to anyone, nor will we be staying at a Shilo Inn anytime soon. If you're looking for a real romance package, you might want to try the Honeymoon Package at the Ameritell. We stayed there once before and their standard rooms were more luxurious than Shilo Inns Suites. I wish we would have booked our package at the Ameritell.
