Days End, Durango

We are currently staying here with our 3 yr old who loves to swim. We came back after dinner and they had closed the pool and spa early. One of our main reasons for staying here. The owner did not really give a crap and just smiled at me!

I was very worried after reading the bottom 3 reviews as I had already reserved a night at this hotel. I found the front desk to be extremely helpful. I arrived too late to use the pool but the hours seemed pretty standard and it was clean. My room was clean and the towels were fine. I brought an extra set as the reviews worried me. I thought overall this was a nice hotel for the price. Yes there were little to no extras but it was right on the main street with a trolley stop just down the road a few yards. If you are looking to save money on a hotel and don't care about all the extras this is a great place to stay.

We stayed one night at the Days End in Durango, CO in July 2006 and we will NEVER go back. We arrived around 11:30pm from a long day of driving to find no one on call and our key in an envelope stuck to the door. Once inside our room it was apparent things were not as advertised. The door to the bathroom would not close and there was major water damage next to the toilet. The �bath towels� were 2� x 3� and paper thin. To make things worse when we pulled back the sheets on the bed there were eyelashes and pubic hair scattered throughout the bed! Needless to say this was unacceptable, but there was no one on call to help us. So we slept in our sleeping bags on top of the bed. The next morning I went down to the office where I expected to find a little customer services. I spoke with Laure Johnson the manager of Days End and told her my story. It was obvious she didn�t believe me and she told me that she could give me a �slight discount� on the room. I asked her how much the room would be with the �slight discount� and she told me $110 which was $17 more that original quoted! When I asked her to please reconsider Laure said �I have a problem with your story because I know that our maids change the beds�. She was completely unreasonable and refused to exercise any amount of professionalism or customer services. I would NEVER stay at Days End in Durango, CO ever again. Unless you like sleeping in other peoples dirty sheets and stripping your skin with sandpaper bath towels I would recommend you look at other accommodations in Durango, CO. Our room door had to be slammed and I mean slammed to engage the lock. The entire floor squeaked and felt as it was going to give when walked on. The towels were paper thin. Even young kids that use hostels would have to agree that this place should be torn down and made into a parking lot.

Stayed there three years in a row and look forward to it. Clean, Quiet, Comfortable and very Convenient. Would be perfect for bicycler's and jogger's with direct access from the side of the hotel to Durango's trail system that runs through town along the Animas River. Definetly not fancy and not extra services but a great value.
