Southern Lodge, Orangeburg

To the management, On April 4th. 2012, aprox. 7pm. My wife and asked the counter lady to allow us to see one of the rooms. She questioned why we wanted to see the room and was giving us a hard time. She finally threw the key card at us. The counter employe was a black lady with short hair, aprox. 5'5" 170 lbs and about 28 yrs. old. While we walked to room 110 we discussed how rude this person was. The room was a little musty so we decided to not stay there. I walked back to the reception area, placed the key on the counter and thanked her for letting us see the room. I was parked in the parking lot off to the side of the canopy. I started searching my I-Phone for numbers to other hotels before I headed out into traffic. The same receptionist confronted me and my family and asked If was going to stay there, I told her that I was not and she barked in a threatening tone that I had to leave the premisses accused me of using there wi-fi.. I politely told her that I was not using her wifi and I would leave once I get the info I was searching for. She said if I don't leave now that she was going to call the police. Mind you I had my 84 year old mother, my wife and my 8, and 5 yr old children on the car. This person was mental!! I pulled of the edge of the parking lot and kept searching my phone. she ran out again and said that I better get the "F" out of the parking lot. I asked for her name and she said "my name is the Police and that she was not playing with me" If that is the type of people this place hires that tells you all you need to know about the management and care they offer to prospective patrons. Do not ruin your day or beginning of your vacation by walking into this place. The Price is low but "you get what you pay for" I went to the Hampton Inn at three times the price and it was booked .. the Southern Lodge, across the street, barley had a car in the parking lot.

Was treated rudely during the check in process. Carpet in room was dirty. Most importantly, i found out that they charged me cleaning fee for no reason when i checked my credit card bill. I have to call them like three times in order to get my money back!!!!

Super dirty hotel!!! Staff are very impolite with bad attitude!!! The queen bed (which is the main reason why I booked the hotel) was very uncomfortable. I mean it's old and the mattress is hard. The pillows can't be called pillows at all. The air conditioner was very very noise. So you can imagine what a night I got!! I couldn't get to sleep. I am a person who can fall asleep anywhere but Southern lodge. The bathroom was dirty. Although the breakfast is ok, the staff were watching you as you ate. They wanna to make sure no waste and no take-out. I will never ever book Southern Lodge again!!!

This is one of the best motels in Orangeburg, I have stayed at several motels in the area and none compare to my stay at Southern Lodge, the staff was friendlyy, rooms were nice and clean, and the breakfast is excellent. I felt welcomed and have reccomended friends to stay here and we all agreethis would be our stopping place from now on. Thanks Southern Lodge for an excellent stay!!!!

Looking for a place to take a break off the road for the night we pulled in to 2 other hotels to check price and cleanses. The Southern lodge was by far the best deal on the road. Very Clean, Very Pol lite, and very fair priced. Do your self a favor and just pull in there, I listed it in my favorites on my GPS for the next time.

This Orangeburg SC hotel-motel near great restaurants offered the perfect short stopover spot near Interstate 26. With a few recommendations from the devoted proprietor I set out to explore Orangeburg, especially its peaceful, unbelieveable rose gardens as far as the eye could see at Edisto Memorial Rose Gardens. I was made to feel like welcomed family. The abundance of breakfast choices, towels, refrigerator in the room, and easy in/out convenience to I-26 and I-95 made this reasonably priced hotel a welcomed find for my short South Carolina trip.

Having been delayed at an airport for 7 hours and then having the airline lose my luggage, I was thankful for the very clean and comfortable room. The stay was enjoyable. The staff was friendly and the European breakfast was good. Even though coffee is available in the lobby during breakfast hours, I would have liked to have had a coffee pot and alarm clock in the room.
