Great management makes for a great stay!
By Ohio Visitor, 04/08/09
We came out for a quick family vacation from Ohio, got in really late, only to find a party going on in the room above us. While management was actively working to stop the party, it went on most of the night. To my amazement, before we could even call the front desk to complain the next day, the manager called us! They not only made amends for the problem but took extra steps to ensure we had a most memorable stay. This is a great place for families and we would definitely consider it as 'the place' to stay in Pismo!

Perfect get-a-way...
By DEO, 02/24/09
We had a long weekend at this very nice, clean hotel. Rooms were great!...especially loved the bedroom privacy, 2 full baths & patio overlooking the game yard. Close to hwy, so you can hear "some" street noise, but it really didn't bother us. We really like the covered FREE parking, nice breakfast (continental, but good) and staff was just awesome! Great place for kids...super child-friendly hotel.

Pismo Lighthouse Suites
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/02/07
We had not been to Pismo Beach in 20 years. This hotel was very clean and the staff was very kind to our family. The breakfast was very nice. Lots of things for the kids to do. The only thing I was disappointed with was the pool was not heated. It was really cold!!!!! The rooms were very big. I would highly recommend this hotel......

Nice Place to Stay
By A Yahoo! User, 06/09/07
I agree with everything from the reviewer who wrote the, "A very good place to stay" review for this hotel. It does have big rooms, that are furnished nicely, but depending on the season it can be a little expensive. I certainly would not call it a "seedy little motel", as another review did. We have and will continue to stay here as a family.

A very good place to spend the night
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/02/07
I have stayed here 3 times over the past 3 years. I think I come back here because the rooms are very nice and the breakfast is very good. But I read the comment from the person who said they experienced a very poor stay, and I could see how the noise could potentially be a problem. This is, after all, Pismo Beach, and during Spring Break there can be noisy people about. I don't think I would have waited until 3:30 a.m. to say something about it, however (my tolerance level is not that high). I have found the staff to be reasonable in the past, especially when it is not a peak vacation week. I have been able to upgrade for free, they have given me steep discounted rates, and offered us ideas for places to eat. Regarding the freeway noise, there are several rooms that do face the 101 Freeway, but they are buffeted by a wall and a hallway. Some rooms are angled so you see both the freeway and the ocean (these are partial ocean view rooms). The freeway noise, unfortunately, wins out on the end units. With these rooms, the closer you get to the ocean, the noise of the freeway is drowned out. That said, if you can get an oceanfront room, you will not hear any freeway noise. The oceanfront rooms are lovely, all are king suites I believe, with fully separate sofa bed living rooms. I did wish to sleep to the sound of the ocean, so that was a little bit of a bummer because the bed is in the back room. I ended up sleeping on the sofa bed one time because I really love the sound of the ocean. I think what differentiates this hotel from others, and there are many on this strip, is that it is suites. Apart from that, you can get the same breakfast next door at the Cottage Suites. The customer who didn't like this hotel was correct that there is no beach access. Beach access used to be next door at the Cottage Inn, but the cliffside has eroded and the stairs are gone. Now access is two hotels down, at a really big hotel/motel, but it wasn't a big deal for us to walk it with our 3 year old. The little perks are the 'courtyard' in the parking lot (badminton, volleyball, the mini golf 'green',the big chessboard, ping pong table), treadmill, swimming pool. Again during peak vacation periods, families do come here, so you are forewarned if you are looking for a romantic retreat during Spring Break or Summer, this may not be your best bet...or maybe you won't see any families at all because you are so in love you don't see anyone but your true love. We have been here in November when we are one of the few brave souls on the beach, and we've had the hotel almost to ourselves. That feels lovely. We have also been here at Spring Break, which is definitely full of people. In a state with 34 million people, where you can sometimes feel like you are never far from the crowds. I think that ultimately, this hotel does a very good job of trying to cater to a family clientele while not alienating business people or people looking for a couples getaway. They just need to understand there are those who come to Pismo Beach who are here to party and ride their ATVS (not me, by the way). PS- The wifi access is better closer to the office. On the 'outskirts' it's skittish.

I will recommend this beautifull place to all my friends!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/29/06
It was beautifull overall! The ocean view was fabulous and our suite was very large and clean. I especially liked the decor. We had breakfast every day and it was great. The staff was excptionaly friendly too.I had been disappointed with so many places in the past that I actually didn't expect much, but too my surprise it was more than what I had expected. The only thing was that it was a bit noisy from the family being upstairs. better. Overall, I am very pleased and will definitley return real soon! It was a real Birthday treat for me.

Awful stay and grossly overpriced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/30/06
The rooms are big, but the beds are terribly saggy and the walls are paper thin. We booked a suite with 2 queen beds, but the room had 1 king and 1 full. The office staff insisted that they only had 2 queens in our room. They refused to they refused our request to come look at the beds with us, they refused to do anything. Our room was near the highway and there was traffic noise, but that wasn’t as bad as the noise from our neighbors in the hotel. EVERYTHING can be heard through the common walls. The staff makes you sign an agreement that states you promise not to hold a party in your room -that should have been our first clue to the type of establishment this was. Our neighbors in the room next door did have a party that lasted until 3:30 when we were forced to call the office twice to get them to stop. If we had only paid $60 for the room all this would be expected, but at $249 per night we had higher expectations. Basically this is a place that pretends to be a high class establishment and is very far from it. The pool had algae, the big chessboard was missing pieces, the breakfast fare was nothing special, the staff was rude, there is no beach access, and it is nothing but a seedy motel pretending to be something its not. We left exhausted from enduring horrible beds and noises all night long. Save your money and stay elsewhere!

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/19/05
my husband and i were looking for somewhere nice to go for our 20th wedding anniversary. this was the perfect place. what a great view we had from our oceanfront balcony. beautiful sunsets every evening and close to many great places and restarants. (which were very reasonabaly priced!) we actually got lucky and were able to get an additional night. we have decided to spend every anniversary there. this will be "our" place.

Best View
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/12/05
This hotel room is spacious, airy and literally on the beach. The standard one bedroom comes with airy bedroom, living room and two full bathrooms. The view is tremendous, with huge windows next to waves breaking by the rocks next to the window...Serene, romantic getaway!
