Holiday Inn Express, Grand Canyon

The actual hotel was okay. The service was not rude but they did not go out of their way to accomodate. The room was very standard for this type of hotel. I did not expect much, so I was not disappointed. Room was clean and comfortable. The best part of the hotel was the location. Located just 5 minutes from the park entrance and 10 minutes to the trail heads. It was perfect when we did our day hikes and drove back to the hotel. Hotel was filled with kids running around and the buffet was decent but extremely crowded. Bottom line, if you want a decent place to crash after hiking all day and have the conveniences of hotel amenities, this could fit the bill. Don't expect much and you won't be let down. I would stay there again.

Although the Holiday Inn Express is in a stage of remodeling we were not inconvienced by it at all. The rooms were clean and staff was friendly. A great place to stay if you are considering a visit to the Grand Canyon area. Close to the entrance and within walking distance to some fast food resturants and cafes. While you are here don't forget to plan on eating the breakfast which is included with your room. It was hot with lots of great choices and very tasty.

The front desk staff mixed up our reservation even though it was already set up through Travelocity. They gave our room to someone else and we had to wait half an hour until they decided to give us his room instead, which was a different type of room from what we had requested. The TV did not even have basic cable - it had about 10 channels, half of which were unwatchable due to poor audio or video quality. The continental breakfast was fine except very crowded. This hotel is almost always sold out so you'd think they'd have a large enough room for the breakfast but we had to take our food back to our room because there was nowhere to sit! This hotel is close to the Grand Canyon but other than that there is nothing special about its location. Drive an extra hour to Flagstaff and get a nice hotel at half the price!

The "Suite" as it was called was nothing but two rooms put together. The furnishing in the room were worse than items that we have donated to the Salvation Army. The couch was so old and worn that you sunk into the couch and could not get up without someone helping you! The next morning the dishes that we had used the noght before, were NOT cleaned out of our sink and the maid left the dirty dishes in our room. I had to call the front desk and demand that we get some clean dishes! Never once did they apologize at all! The pool left A LOT to be desired! It was FILTHY! There was an oily coat in the water and there was a white film in all of the corners of the pool - no wonder no one was swimming in the pool. We traveled with our 2 young chidren and we actually went to the hotel next store and paid them to swim in their outdoor pool - I would not let my worst enemy swim in the pool at this Holiday Inn in the Grand Canyon! The continental breakfast served in the morning also left a lot to be desired. They were always running out of milk and it was VERY hard to try to find someone/an employee to fill the basics(juice/milk). There was never enough table space in the morning for us in the crowded dinning area (4 tables only). The 4 slice toaster that they had only 1 side worked so it was fun waiting in line with 4 plus people in front of you at a minimum to toast a bagel! This hotel also had torn carpeting in the hallways, talk about a very run down and poorly managed hotel this would be it. We were VERY displeased with our stay at this Holiday Inn.

Overall it's okay to stay for resting while visiting the Canyon. It has a fairly nice in-door pool & spa for relaxing after the hike. Complimentary continental breakfast which helped to reduce time to spend for breakfast. I over heard other people complained about cable TV but my room was okay. Other things I wish to have is my room window would have a view rather than facing a wall and a working AC.

We checked in at 11:30pm and were assigned to a smoking room although requested a non-smoking one. We called the room service for pillows on sofa bed but got only a voice response. After calling the front desk 4 times, we finally got our pillows one and half hour later at 1:00am.

Good clean Hotel. The front desk staff is poorly trained. When we arrived The front desk had problems locating our reservations. Whe we got to our room, another family was already in the room. It took a hour to straighten the problem.

Big room and good services. The location is very easy to find it.

After driving across country...the Holiday Inn in the Grand Canyon set the standard for my son and I in what to expect for what I was paying. Enjoyable

It was very busy. More dining area would have nice, but a very nice stay.
