perfect
By nicole, 07/22/09
We liked the fact that it is 20mns away from the rim without paying as much as oher hotels that are closer. Breakfast was hot with lots of variety and plenty of it.Service was perfect, fast and rooms are clean as expected with Holiday inn. The only thing that I did not like is the small indoor pool which is hot, humid and smelly. Since the G.C can be seen in one entire day included with a helicopter ride it is better to drive back to Williams or Flagstaff if you don't want to pay so much.

TERRIBLE!!!!
By Tweeky, 03/20/09
I am at the Grand Canyon at least twice a year on business...everytime that I have ever gone to the Grand Canyon I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. I must say that their staff and entire hotel has down-graded since the last time I stayed. The desk clerks were extremely rude, unprofessional, and didn't know their hand from the computer in front of them. The person that I was told is the General Manager who used to be a nice young man has changed to a shrivled up prune of a hag who's behavior represented that of the desk clerks. There was only one person in that entire hotel that was nice to me in the duration of my stay he was a tall, blonde gentleman who looked like the maintanence man, which was the only thing impressive about this establishment was that gentleman and the cleanliness and upkeep of the hotel itself. I will be sending this as an email to the hotel administration in hopes that maybe they will return to being the welcoming smooth-run hotel that I had always known them to be.

What a Surprise!
By albion47, 02/01/09
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express while visiting the Grand Canyon last spring and were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were great. Very clean. The breakfast was very good and plenty of it even though the hotel was full. Great location! Would definitely visit again. Highly recommend it.

WOULD LOVE TO GO BACK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/04/08
Having read the reviews about this hotel, I have some observations........ First, this is a very nice hotel, convenienlty located near the south rim of the CANYON. The price is reasonable, and the staff is friendly (although I have yet to locate the $66 room advertised on the web). The criticisms I have seen regarding the service seem unwarranted, but I have only stayed here once. During our stay, we found the staff to be friendly and professional. Frankly, I do not understand some of the complaints I have read. I suggest the reader consider the context(and the grammar) of the complainants when considering booking this establishment. My family and I were quite satisfied with the value.

Much better than expected
By Kerri W, 02/18/08
We went over Presidents weekend so it was very cold but our room was cozy warm. The beds were very very comfy. The breakfast was good- we would have paid almost the room fee for breakfast somewhere else. We went to the little Cafe close by for dinner one night- not expecting much but got a great meal. The hotel is very close to the gate to the Grand Canyon Park- very convient- we went to the Canyon all morning drove out of the park to go to lunch and go swimming and then drove back in for the sunset. Check-in was quick & no non-sense.

nice beds and hot tub after day of hiking
By Melissa, 10/20/07
We were really happy with this hotel. The park was merely a mile away which was very appreciated after the hike to and from Indian Gardens! The bed was SO comfortable and felt really good on my back after a day of hiking in the canyon. Also the hot tub and swimming pool were very nice and well maintained (and the pool had a basketball hoop for those so inclined to shoot a few hoops while swimming). The only real complaints are 1. It took us a long time to check in and that was because the front desk seemed very busy. 2. A refrigerator would have been a nice addition to the room. Nontheless, those are mnor complaints and we will definately stay here again when we visit the canyon!

do NOT stay here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/15/07
I made reservations for 2 days in September for our Grand Canyon vacation. My girlfriend was apprehensive about the place before even seeing it, but I made the reservations so I really wanted it to be nice. I gave them all the benefits of the doubt. The people at the front desk were nice. The room, however, was not so nice. It smelled bad and there were old dirty towels left under the sink. There were some yellow stains on the toilet seat. The A/C unit was loud and obnoxious. The doorknob was loose and felt like it could break at any moment. It was absolutely overpriced for the room quality. It really should have been $29.99 for something like that. Thank GOD I chose the Flexible rate for $7 more than standard, because I was able to cancel the second night without penalty and get reservations at the Best Western (on recommendation by my girlfriend) for the second night. In comparison, I gave the BW 5 stars (see my other reviews). P.S. I've never written a review before, but I really had to this time because noone should have to experience this.
