Heidelberg Lodges, New Braunfels

we have been coming to heidelberg for 30 plus yrs. And we love this place, family oriented, plenty to do, fantastic staff and awesome amenities, however... There are some other families that have also been coming for 30, 40, maybe 50 yrs. That feel like it's their own personel resort to do as they please, let's call them clan's, they over-ride any kind of normal common manners to suffice their clan's activities, if you are in their way they will push you out. There are families, like mine, that would like to start a family tradition and have an enjoyable event, that is without getting bullied by the hatfields and mccoys. new families to heidelberg

Look, no place is perfect, but me and my ladies' group have been comin here twice a year for 5 years and there about 23 of us about to come back in one month, We come and have a wonderful time and last time we even had a speaker under the pavilion alongside the river. Our group would be bigger if there were more rooms but they're booked; that oughta tell ya somethin. I've staying in different rooms each time I come and they have always been spic n span so I guess I been lucky all these years then. I don't mind that the ovens dont work cuz the micros and wonderful gas stoves do. Then again when my group comes we don't so much focus on the negative things as we do on the positive and one of those things is the beautiful atmosphere of the property which is always clean and well kept up. There are picnics tables and bbq pits for every cabin, what else could you ask for? The ladies are busy in the office and may sometimes be a little stressed but a lot of it may be dealing with fussy people that just might be a little too demanding, I don't know. Try a little honey, it goes a long way with most folks. We love our home away from home and we LIVE in San Antonio! We also love our Rose, Patty, and Theresa, if she's still there. One more thing, one of our ladies had a noisy couple downstairs last time that didn't let her sleep because of all their drinking, arguing, and or partying. What did we do? We made friends. What a novel idea! Lighten up people, we're all there to have a good time, we just do it differently.

They look like triangles. The game room has like 2 games. I sneak in there all the time. The river behind it "comal springs" has this rock you can kill yourself by jumping off of (: fun for emos and they're children

My family has been going there for over 40 years now! My Mother learned to swim there, I learned to swim there & now my son has learned to swim there. And I hope one day my grandchildren will learn to swim there, too. But the best part is everything has stayed the same - the pool, the lodges, the game room, the fun activites on the Comal River. It brings back such good memories of family & fun! In today's world - with everyone wanting more and better and faster - it's so nice and comforting to know that some things never change. I hope nothing there ever changes. And I think that's the charm of Heldelberg Lodges... it caught and continues to catch perfect moments in time.

Have been coming to Heidelberg for as long as I can remember. It is definitly a family place. There is something to do for all members of your family.The rooms are clean and the staff is very helpful. Look forward to returning each year. It has become a family tradition. Please don't change anything. I highly recommend it to all families. Really good for rest and relaxation. Lots of fun!

This past weekend, we went and stayed at Heidelberg Lodges again as we have been doing for the last 20 or more years. It was fantastic. The management and staff were so wonderful to us as they always have been in years past. We love just relaxing around the pool with are family and friends. There were some new people there that I have never seen before that were causing some problems, but the manager handled it, like she always does. She told them that this was a fanily resort and that they wanted to proceed to act like they were doing she was going to escort them off the property. They left all of us alone the rest of the weekend. As soon as this weekend is over, we will already be planning next years'. Oh!! Before I forget! They have changed the tubs to showers in the 2 bedroom cottages. It is great!!!!! See ya'll next year! Ya'll come to see us down here!

My wife and I visited Heidelberg about 2 weeks ago and had a great time. Patti, Chris, Rose and staff were great to us. The place was wonderful to relax and just enjoy the weekend. WE were only going to stay 1 night but decided to stay 3 we enjoyed it so much. We will be back.

After reading all the reviews, I was wondering why people complained. We have been coming for 10 years and for the last few years, the new owners and management have been fixing the place up. It looks great! It's not the Hilton, but it's a place to relax and enjoy the river and your family. The management and staff are good to me and my family. They are very helpful with anything I ask of them. We couldn't ask for more. We will keep coming forever!!!!!

The mangement at this place needs help in hospitality and politeness. They apparently want to run off old customers, not get new customers, and close up shop. It would do them good to go back to the old way of serving their customers. We now know of only one couple returning from the past. NO ONE WANTS TO COME DUE TO THE RUDENESS AND THE EXTREMELY HIGH INCREASE IN RATES IN THE SUMMER ESPECIALLY FOR WHAT IS FURNISHED. GET RID OF THE STAFF AND GET SOMEONE NEW THAT CARES OR CLOSE UP!!!!

We have been coming to New Braunfels for many winters(4 mos) each year.The lodges are not like a suite at the Mariott, but neither is the price. The staff is is very helpful from the office,maintance and maids. Every year we arrive their is something new replaced,bathrooms,sofas carpeting,flooring.kitchen table and chairs. The lodges are old.but very comfortable.and the service is great, I'm sure some people would love to have their butts wiped,but that service is not provided here, they'll have to go to the nursing home up on the hill. It's a fun place to stay at and the staff is just great and the upgrades make a big difference. We will continue coming until we unable to make the drive. We recommend it to our friends to come and have a great time.
