Last time we stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/12/11
Nice hotel, very unprofessional front desk staff, stayed there in past year, enjoyed stay , however this time supervisor was complaining about not wanting to get sick, and front desk clerk, in a neck brace very unprofessional, after a long day of travel, do not need to hear their problems, desk clerk not polite, very ignorant tone of voice. My wife and I had a long drive, wanted to just enjoy a nice evening, not a good first impression when you enter the building, , floors being re done, nice, but really need to perhaps put a smiling face behind the desk . Seems like they turn over staff quite a bit.

Homestyle Hotel & Casino
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/30/10
I loved my stay at Prospector Hotel & Casino. The staff went out of their way to make you feel like you belonged there. The pool and spa was clean unlike other places I have stayed through out the years. The casino was small but quite since I do not care for the sound of loud machines. The food and service was outstanding in every way. i would recomend this hotel for adult and families as it has something for all plus the price was the excellent for anyone on a tight traveling budget.

Bummer!
By jv, 4/12/08
The staff at the desk were very nice. We were in a non smoking room but that didn't mean the room didn't smell like smoke. The housekeeper was smoking in a room across from ours (Maid room) and the casino is down the NON SMOKING hall so the smell of smoke is really bad, we put towels under the door to help, but it didn't. If you don't like the smell of smoke this hotel is not for you. The pool was out of order. It was 11:00pm and I could hear the TV's playing in the other rooms. The carpet was dirty. I will never stay there again. Everytime someone closed their hotel door it sounded like an earthquake and it woke us up all night.

Comfortable place to sleep
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/30/07
After a long drive, this was a very comfortable place to sleep...and, we needed it. Seems to be a chain that was taken over by private group. They keep it clean, although the non-smoking room did smell of smoke. It requires a drive through town to find, but convenient to restaurants and shopping with short drive.

paid to get sick
By Speasy, 8/19/07
It was disgustingly smelly. I took a bubble bath only to see the layer of mold lining the tub where the shower enclosure meets the tub. Had to ask hotel to come and take care of the smell in the room. They responded exceptionally slow. When we asked whether they offer a free breakfast or offered comps for meals they laughed at us. One chair in the room was completely busted and worn out. There were doors that they could close from the casino floor between the area where the rooms were to cut down on the smells migrating. No effort was made to do this though several complaints were lodged. Woke up very sick with severe allergy attack despite having taken allergy medicine. The room and the filtth and the level of allergens just much too high to be stopped by meds.

what a bummer
By richard, 11/25/06
Stayed three nights during a train festival,so had no other place to go.One day the room was not made up but was charged regular rate. The casino SMOKE is drawn under the door from the hall so had to use towels to block the smoke.Restaurant is next to the casino so the nonsmoking area in the restaurant is a joke.

Great food too!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/9/06
We stayed here because there are no real good places to eat in Ely. This was super and the wheelchair accessable room was wonderful for a change.
