The place is a dump!
By Wood Grace, 09/17/08
My room had water damage in the washroom and bedroom area. Staff did nothing about it. Courtyard was under construction...we were never told until check in. I should note that I had stayed there ten years ago and had a great experience. After this recent visit under new management...I will never stay there again!

my 40th bday
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/07
I've never been to Europe and felt like I had landed in Tuscany. I celebrated my 40th bday with a date and loved every minute of it. I loved the stay, the hospitality, the service and the breakfast, and lets not forget the facial and massage! I loved it so much that I did it again the following week for a repeat! I still think about it and hope that no one else will find it so that the price goes up and it's hard to get back in for a revisit! I was sad to read the comments from 2005 about the service because that was not my experience, that is why I took the time a year later to write this in! I plan to revisit in Jan. and bring my girlfriends hopefully it will be warm weather. Jan 28 is always beautiful!

in God's country to relax
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/23/07
this is probably one of the best Inn anywhere? and I mean anywhere 'cause i've been everywhere!!!close to beautiful San Francisco;(get a room treatment)massages for both in room than get a cheese and fruit tray with a bottle of Sonoma great Pinot Noir and enjoy it on your little patio(made to look like "Ravello" on the "Amalfi drive" south of Italy and yes try both swimming pools and don't miss the 24 hours private ancient jacuzzi bath and sauna(only at the "quisisana hotel" in Capri(made for Emperor Augustus)do you find something similar. their morning breakfast also not to be missed.

Times change and so do owners.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/29/07
We were repeat customers, my wife has been two other times, myself once. The ownership changed hands at the end of 2006 and you can notice the difference. Although I think the service has always been a bit hit and miss, even with the previous owners, there used to be a certain casual friendliness. I guess some would like it, others would not. The staff seems to be more young/new than tenured, and somehow don't always get it. For the luxury price of the property I suspect most will be expecting more. The property itself is spectacular. You would feel as if you were in Tuscany with the beautiful buildings and surroundings. The down side is it's proximity to Highway 12, which you will always hear with the windows open. The other miss was the food. The dinner is good, especially if you don't want to travel into town, but the breakfast has taken a definite hit with the new ownership. On our third morning the breakfast was especially poor. This is something of a shame since this used to be one of the high points. I can't say as if we will be repeat customers in the future. Time will tell, but I think our lodgings will be different for our next year trip. If for nothing else but to try out the competition.

Highway noise overwhelming
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/13/07
Although the building and the room are very attractive, the noise of the highway detracted tremendously from our enjoyment of the hotel. We had an upper suite and the noise was awful. Our "private patio" overlooked the courtyard and we witnessed every car travelling HWY 12, 60 feet from the front door. The service was extremely poor. We arrived in the rain and stood outside almost ten minutes before someone came and instructed us where to park and where we were to find our room., and then proceeded to lead us through the rain with no assistance up 2 flights of stairs. This property is over priced. The noise is terrible and the service is poor.

Awesome food,location & service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/27/07
It was like staying at a mediterranean villa and the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was very romantic. The rooms have a fireplace and are very comfortable and spacious. We would go back in an instant.

Worst customer service
By Nicola, 08/24/06
This was the worst service experience ever! They have no regard for making the customer happy. The manager laughed in my face when I told him I was unhappy with the service. I would NEVER go back and would NOT recommend anyone going there.

Unbelievable Find!!
By Jasey M, 07/21/06
I discovered this little gem over a year ago while trying to escape "big city life" before starting a new job. What a place!! If I could give it 6 stars I would. Beautiful property. Romantic. Quiet. Perfect in every way. The room had everything you could possibly want: fireplace, delux bed (like none you've ever slept in!) gigantic bathroom, candles, patio.....I just booked my second stay today and can't wait to submerge into relaxation. Highly highly recommended!

Would not recommend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/13/06
Our entire experience at Kenwood Inn was an utter disappointment. Completely understaffed. We waited at the check in desk for at least 10 minutes. No one was available to help with our luggage. Our spa appointment was bumped for some reason and they had no record of our dinner reservation when we arrived to the dining room. The breakfast was the only thing that was provided on time. The wine bar had an unbelievably limited selection of wines for a hotel in the heart of wine country and they were so outrageously priced! I should mention that I have worked in the wine business for years - the mark-up on wines was an insult. A $5 bottle of Italian white sells in their wine bar for $12-$15 a glass, ridiculous! Finally, people considering this as a place to stay should know that it's on a busy highway. NOT worth the money. There are much better places to stay in Wine Country.

No equal anywhere
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/08/06
We come to Napa and Sonoma at least twice a year and spend a good part of the year traveling the world. There is simply no place equal to the Kenwood anywhere we have been--and, approaching our seventies, we have "been around". What lies behind the walls on the Sonoma Highway is nothing short of a Tuscan wonderland. Quiet, subdued, incredible rooms (some could use a closet or somesuch), great breakfasts and wonderful people. We have sent friends and relatives to whom we have recommended the Kenwood and they have come back with raves. On a scale of 1-10, a clear 10.
