Primm, a Special Type of Hell
I had a hard time narrowing down one major problem.
First I was going to talk about the fact that on a Sunday afternoon, it still took us over an hour and a half to check-in. Or that once we did, they didn't have the refrigerator we had specifically requested on our reservation.
Then I thought that safety issues would be a concern, like the fact that on the fourth floor, our air conditioning unit was partially pulled out of the wall (something I found in other posts on this and other sites) and we could reach outside through the opening. Of course the poor air conditioner had to work pretty hard, not just because of the opening mentioned above, but the fact that the window was wedged partially open with no screen and would not close no matter how hard we tried (careful with the kids!). There were also large patches of missing ceiling tiles throughout the casino. We also looked in vain for a do not disturb sign for most of the week. Half the doors in the casino didn't work either (they had signs on them, so they obviously knew they were broken).
Maybe, since you're reading this, you could explain why the area in general has some sort of curse. We had three flat tires between the two vehicles in our party (closest repair is Vegas - 40mi). And I found two other victims of the curse in the parking lot trying to change tires too.
Then there was the SMALL overcharge to our co-worker's room. After breakfast we tried to pay, but the computer system was down. So they charged the Grand Slam breakfast to his room.... all $7,500 worth (QUITE A GRAND SLAM!!!). Of course they weren't allowed to remove such a large charge without a manager, even though they had made the mistake! So he had to come back that night to have the charge removed. We tried to pay for ours with cash (for obvious reasons). But they couldn't operate the cash register, so the poor server had to pull money out of his own pocket to make change, everyone else had to have exact change.
At least Denny's was open though, aside from McD's everything else was closed for the whole five days that we were there. There were also all sorts of other small nuisances during the time we were there.
Eventually I narrowed it down to one major problem. The one MAJOR THING that oddly proved to be the biggest problem was the lack of a bathroom fan. Yes, the lowly bathroom fan. (If you are squeamish just stop reading now) It didn't seem like a problem, until our little "adventure" at the GREEN BUFFET over at Primm Valley Casino (also owned by Terrible's). My fiancee and I both came down with a serious case of food poisoning. At one point in the night my fiancee complained that she was so dizzy and light headed that she was afraid she might pass out. We couldn't leave the room for two days. Unfortunately the only pharmacy in town is the rack of pain killers in the gift shop. Thus with two people who spent two days spewing from both ends, the lack of a bathroom fan became..... an issue.
We recovered well enough on the third day of our "adventure" to check out early, tell the lady at the front desk that we would never come back to Primm (EVER!!!), and carefully make our way back to Orange County (our stomachs were still iffy after three days).
One good thing though... the bed was quite comfortable for the two days we were stuck in it with food poisoning!
Additional Tip: Carefully read the other reviews, many of them give the casino 3/5 stars, but then go on to explain how horrible it was.
