Rodeway Inn Berkeley, Berkeley

My daughter & I stayed there for 3 nights at Christmas time, and have stayed there before. The front desk staff is very helpful and go out of their way to assist you. The room and bathroom were very clean. The room was quiet. The rooms have good cable TV and WiFi for my laptop. There is a clothes washing machine ($2.00 a load) and a free dryer. There is also a computer in the lobby you can use for free. I really liked the breakfast...every morning I had juice, raisin bread toast with real butter, yogurt, an apple or banana, and fresh coffee with milk. They had other food too, like frozen waffles with butter and syrup, dry cereals and milk, muffins, pastries, and a variety of cans of juice. My favorite was the mango. CNN is on the TV while you eat breakfast. There is a nice mix of fellow guests. We drove on this trip but on some past trips we flew and took the BART (rapid transit train) from the airport (both SFO and Oakland) to the North Berkeley BART station. You can walk the couple of blocks from the BART station to the Rodeway. The proximity of BART is wonderful for day trips to San Francisco too. (Also, don't miss the Oakland Museum, get off at Lake Merritt BART station and walk a few blocks.) There are good places to eat very nearby--an authentic taqueria across the street and Thai restaurant next door, and you can walk the 6-8 blocks to the University, downtown movies, book stores, AuCoquelet coffee shop & restaurant, lots of other restaurants, or the Starbucks at Oxford and Center across from the University. All in all a very fun & affordable trip!

There is nothing to dislike...The location was quiet and peaceful. The room was always clean...fresh towels and linens...lovely bathroom and vanity area... and beautifully renovated! We especially liked the breakfasts in the morning...great variety, easy to access...It just felt like home! We often caught up on our e-mails and watched some news coverage in the breakfast room. The staff was very helpful re. information about how to get around in the San Francisco area and things to do as tourists. The location of the Rodeway Inn was within easy walking distance (a couple of blocks) of the BART system (Bay Area Rapid Transit...subway) There is easy parking...free (!) right in front of the inn, for those who have a car. We used it during one week of our stay, and never had a problem. The inn has a wonderful, safe feel about it. After two weeks, it's almost hard to go home...We feel that Rodeway Inn was our home-away-from- home. We wouldn't stay anywhere else! Arja, Elaine and Herb from Ontario, Canada

We were looking for a budget option in Berkeley and just happened upon the Rodeway Inn. Everything was clean and attractive. Very comfortable. Decent breakfast was included in the price of the room. The location was ideal, since it was on a major street about a mile from campus, but was tucked back away from the noise.

Location is quiet even though near a main street. Staff is helpful ans well as friendly. Rooms are pleasant; the recent renovation leaves them feeling comfortable and homelike. Price was good. Definitely would return.

I like that the room was small but clean and very updated. The restroom could have used better water pressure but other than that everything was good. The service was very nice and the location was good also. There is a Mexican food place right across the street and there food was great! Everything was good. I would definitely go back.

I was very pleasantly suprised by the newness of everything at this place. From parking lot to bathroom, everything looked new. HBO & Showtime on the TV, not that far to the University, maid service was fine. Nothing real fancy,just a good value. I will stay there again if I go back.

I decided to stay at rodeway inn after reading good reviews by other travelers, and this motel gave me a special rate of $70 because I was staying there for 5 nights. I got a great value for my money, this motel is nicely remodeled with marble & granite bathroom and the staff took care of all my needs. The location is very close to BART & has a diverse selection of restaurants within walking distance. I would stay here again.

i've always wanted to go to Berkeley and really wanted to know as much as posible so went there on a short trip. the hotel was nice and comfort able and was cleaned daily very well. i racormend this place if you just need it to sleep.
