Wanted to see first hand

I’d traveled to Costa Rica some 25 years ago as a child and I wanted to see San Jose Costa Rica again because I wanted to re live some of the good times I experienced. Some people warned me about the city. Some people in this review site had warned about the hotel. I chucked it to snobby American travelers that expected high American standards (LOL). Sadly, I have to say they hit it right on the money. Additional warning for the young or elderly traveler, as I drove to this location at night, I saw prostitutes openly in the streets as well as people who were obviously under the influence. Next day I asked if it was safe to walk to the center of San Jose I was told that it was not safe in the day time as predators were looking for tourists, much less should we walk at night. As far as service goes, I had travelers’ checks with me and as the hotel advertises they had a currency exchange service. I was told that they did not have any money to change my traveler’s checks by a somewhat rude woman behind the counter. You see, I would usually not have a problem with this; however I was also told that thieves prey on tourists who actually use banks for this kind of service. One exception to the awful service, I befriended one gentleman on the restaurant staff who was well mannered and offered some of information that I was able to provide you with.
